Everybody's Talking About Jamie - Sheffield Crucible/Apollo

Dress circle practically full tonight about 2 empty seats upper circle very busy stalls too ... slightly reserved audience but great performances all round ..... understudy on for Jamie’s mum .... she was excellent he’s my boy top class job not quite the range of the original but excellent none the less .
Jamie has settled into the role and excelled ....every extra glance and nuance adds so much to the performance .... wasn’t sure about the new songs last time I saw it but have grown on me. Ugly works well ...... I do think drag shop scene should be trimmed a little does slow things down a little too much .... really glad the drag queens have more to do than in Sheffield

I saw this tonight and... well, I couldn't have imagined a better way to kiss 2017 goodbye. Enjoyed it greatly. A delightful, camp, bittersweet show. My feet loved the music and my eyes got a little bit wet a few times...
Will gladly see it again (and I don't even like musicals!)

I just adored this. It's at once joyous and fun and utterly heartfelt and sweet. Is it a perfect musical? maybe not but when I'm enjoying something I don't tend to notice that...and anyway what is? there's some wonderful music, genuinely engaging interesting characters. It feels real while also having that musical magic. I loved it.

I'm so happy this is getting traction by people on the forum. It's fab, and as emicardiff points out, the music is fantastic, the characters are wonderful, and I think the creative team gets serious browny points for diversity done right.

I hope they chug out a cast recording soon.

Oh yes but 'long run' I meant more 'a solid decent run that shows it's a success' not some 'Phantom of the Opera' type nonsense (I'm firmly of the belief that a musical doesn't need to run for decades to be considered a success!)

I think 18 months to 2 years could be possible if word of mouth continues to be good and they get a few press/media outings.

Saw this just before Christmas. This was a case of going in with very high expectations and excitement only to have them gradually ebbing away the more the show went on. It starts well - the first song and scene are just fabulous and the next couple of scenes and songs were great and it I really wanted it to stay that good. But from the terrible scene in the clothes store it just didn't hit the mark for me. I thought the scenes with Loco Chanel were terrible (as was his song/s). The drag queens just weren't funny/ biting/ cutting enough and looked awkward. There seemed to be little drama or hardship. Hated the teacher's Vogue song. The highlights for me were Jamie McRea who was just brilliant throughout and you wished for him to come back when he had left the stage, the scenes and songs with his mother (although Josie Walker struggled with her solo when I saw it) and Lucie Shorthouse as Pritti Pasha who had a fabulous voice and was a joy to watch in her scenes. The main disappointments were, I'm afraid, the book and songs. The songs were fairly memorable at times but there were some odd juxtapositions and in general they seemed to be weirdly elongated for no reason with repeating lines at the end of the songs (Jamie's and his Mum's songs were the most obvious examples). The book just wasn't up to scratch. It was clumsy in places and simply not as funny or as good as it could have been. So overall I thought it was a 3/5 and I sooooo wanted it to be a 4 or 5 ;(

This show was one of my favourite things I've seen all year...I really hope the cast recording comes out soon and that this does have a long run. I think John McRea is simply stunning and the music/book are great. I'm not sure what you were expecting but it lived up to my expectations and then som. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could.

I like the teachers song but it does feel out of place and the Drag Queen s are a bit odd and should have been funnier. I saw the understudy for Loco Chanel one of the times I was at the show (he usually plays the dad) and I found himt o be much better than the actor who usually plays that role.

Overall - this show is important - not just for its message which is certainly needed right now, but because it has a fresh British voice with stunning performances, choreography and music.

It’s not perfect by any means but what is ?? I’m just excited a new British musical doing well with modern sounding songs ... I’m sad 16 was cut as like that song and the teachers song does sound better in the iTunes with Betty boo singing on it .....
the drag queens role has got bigger which I’m pleased about and they have a better song than Sheffield
Wish my memory was better and they hadn't sold out of programmes in Sheffield I may have been able to remember more of the changes ..... if anyone else knows more I’d love to hear them
I’m shocked the shop scene has not been trimmed down and I’m sure in Sheffield the dress change was better it changed before your eyes not ripped off behind a clothes rack lord knows why they changed it
Love the projections they weren’t in Sheffield also love the projection and curtains end of act one really works well in Sheffield just walked through curtains then black out
I loved it on nye makes me laugh and cry .... they have added a song at the finale which seems to leave audience more on a high which is better .... but sadly not as uplifting as kinky boots x
But for me it’s my current favourite

You can get upper circle tickets in advance for £20, which I wouldn't recommend, or rear stalls, which are much better but far less available. There's also a TodayTix lottery for £20. So basically it's going to cost you £20 to get in, no matter what, but I think it's easily worth £20. You could try booking the upper circle on a weeknight and keeping your fingers crossed for an upgrade, but if you've got some flexibility, then go through the dates and find yourself a rear stalls ticket (or if you've got maximum flexibility, just enter the lottery every day).

I wouldn't go front row lottery on this because a) the stage is very high and b) there are lighting effects and LED stuff on the floor that, fair enough isn't integral to the show, but it would be good to see. But on the other hand you are reading a persons view who has never done a lottery and chooses premium seats at shows as standard so probably these sorts of things are not as important to a lot of theatregoers as they are to me. I'm the fool lol

I’ll admit it is a high stage but that didn’t bother me in the slightest & liked being so close.

I was impressed in how they have staged this and didn’t miss anything!!

Very happy with the lottery!!

Depending on your budget, you may still be able to find something with the London Theatre New Year Sale - formerly known as Get Into London Theatre.  It looks as though they still have plenty of seats, but of course the ones at 20£ may not be quite the best in the house.

I'm at the end of 2nd row right now on a GILT ticket and can't see the floor at all. I'm unlikely to visit again (although I'm enjoying the show) so what am I missing?

I bought a £20 ticket at the back of the stalls back in December but was upgraded to middle stalls.

Could see the coloured lines when we stood up at curtain call. The only thing I missed really was the white shoes.

I got a day seat on Saturday at about 12:15pm. I'd already checked the availability on the Nimax website and noted a few nice single seats going and lo and behold I got one of them. So if you are a single and they have them then they'll sell them to you. If you are a pair on a busy day they may be more reluctant to.

Me too. Better view, but worse legroom!

Yes i sat there but had the end seats with no seats in front so legroom was fine.
