Does anyone else think Aiden Turner has a disproportionally small head?

Probably why he's so far been more successful on TV, big heads are better for theatre. Still not sure I'm buying him as a 21 year old, but glad he's had a haircut. Anything that stops me being constantly reminded of the dreadful Hobbit movies is a positive step in my opinion!

Asking for my wife -
Is there animal cruelty in this play? Photo looks slightly ominous.

{Spoiler - click to view} Yes. Sorry. The cat actors are presumably well-treated, but the plot is kicked off by the discovery of a dead cat, and depending on how closely Grandage is adhering to the stage directions, there's another dead cat by the end and it's pretty shockingly done, I don't see the audience enjoying it very much. That said, there is a greater deal of human suffering in the play, but I fully sympathise with anyone who doesn't mind that so much (and just likes cats better than people).

Thank you for this, will let her make her own mind up.

Well I have to say that I thought this was outstanding- things didn’t start off well (I had a £10 seat on the side of the grand circle and the view was pretty terrible but thankfully about 4 or 5 seats were left unsold and I could move to the one nearest the stage, which while not perfect was an infinite improvement) - I would still say I preferred The Beauty Queen Of Leenane but I would definitely rank this second in the McDonagh plays I’ve seen in the West End. Incredibly violent and not one to see if you get remotely upset about the thought of bad things happening to cats, but I loved it : I found it both funny and moving (and for those concerned about such things, you get to see Aidan Turner wearing a vest)

I could move to the one nearest the stage, I've booked AA2 for a date in August which seems to be the one nearest the stage in the Grand Circle slips - is that the one you were in? I'm hoping it's ok!

Yep, that’s where I moved to - had to lean forward a couple of times to see what was happening but it was infinitely better than where I started off - would love to see this again but not at the prices they’re charging for stalls seats, so it was a steal at £10.

Initially wasn’t going to book for this when it went on sale, but with wed matinee a theatre slot free in mid July, I’m now tempted. But looking at what is currently on offer, I think this will have to be a dynamic pricing,a day seat or a TodayTix option if any of these become available. I’m certainly not willing to pay the seat prices currently being offered.

The £10 slip seats weren't showing on one of the sales websites I looked at, but on the theatre's own site it was, so worth looking at that for the £10 seats.

I found it both funny and moving (and for those concerned about such things, you get to see Aidan Turner wearing a vest) So is that part funny or moving or both?

I should think it'll prompt quite a lot of 'movement' in the auditorium one way or another...

Maybe I should have put more emphasis on the 'and' in the bit you quoted - I didn't find the sight of Mr. Turner in a vest either funny or moving, but I thought certain members of this community might be concerned about missing out on such a sight. I'll leave you to guess which members I might be talking about (ooh, I said 'member', fnaar, fnaar)

We did the play locally a year or so ago, and the main peripatetic moment with the cat is a tough one to ask of the cat, but every night he did what he was meant to do on cue. Perfect.
