Liverpool, Leeds and Bolton are the three closest to me. Decided to book for Bolton to see the tour cast I was due to see at Theatr Clwyd in April.
So uplifting to have something stagey in the diary to look forward to again and something that promises to be a unique and new experience to boot.
Also seems fitting that in a month when the Edinburgh Fringe would usually be in full swing that live theatre will return with a show that originated there!

I’ve got tickets for the show at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, it’ll be nice for me to see the UK Tour cast one last time as I assume the cast will have changed by the time the show hits the Festival Theatre in May 2021.
Splashed out and went for premium seats as I prefer being as close as possible for this show for the best immersive experience. Ticketweb fees are extortionate however.
But yeah I’m really excited!

Booked premium for London (though it's definitely not in London 😂) to see the tour cast, if I drove would have booked Milton Keynes as well to see the West End cast too but definitely would not be able to persuade my family to go twice!

I can see a tweet saying that Premium hasn’t been held back for the general sale, so if it’s gone now that’s it, but can’t see one saying that Premium is completely sold out? |

I can see a tweet saying that Premium hasn’t been held back for the general sale, so if it’s gone now that’s it, but can’t see one saying that Premium is completely sold out? Oh my mistake, I read it wrong. It said something along the lines of premium seats not being held back for the general like you said so I assumed that implied it had sold out. For some shows already it is gone though |

Booked my tickets this morning, relatively stress free. It’s not a show I would’ve been rushing back to see under normal circumstances but right now I’d even settle for seeing Thriller Live!
Milton Keynes was reported today as being in the high risk category for localised lockdown though so am keeping hopeful that this wasn’t all in vain.

I really want to go, but it's so unfair that there's no single person price! If you want to go alone (I'll have to, my Six friend is still shielding and isn't part of my household) then you pay double. And the fees are nearly an extra tenner! Nearly £3 just for an e-ticket which is bloody awful.

Oh absolutely, I think it's great that they're able to do something and that there will be some live theatre and that some people in the arts will be able to earn something. I do feel frustrated that there's no single discount. Not their fault though I suppose, I have the same annoyance with hotels and holidays and many other things. |

If people want to go they’ll go. If you can’t afford to, don’t. It’s supply & demand. I’m sure twitter is full of people planning groups etc, there are only 3 of us in our car in Cheltenham; you’re welcome to come along and sit in our square if theres a way of adding tickets. This is a time for positivity and doing everything we can to ensure the survival of live entertainment, not bitching over a booking fee & your personal circumstances. Find a way & report back on your success; don’t bring it all down. Rant over. |

I do understand what you're saying, but I am allowed to be annoyed that I'm being penalised for being single. I don't want to go with strangers, how on earth is that safe? I'm delighted that they've worked out a way to have live theatre. But why should I pay double because there's only one of me?

I’ve booked and convinced someone to go with me. Missed out on premium so will probably be miles away but it will be an experience.
I wasn’t trying to be mean to our deleted friend. I genuinely thought it would be maybe £150 per car regardless of numbers. With my lack of theatre recently I’d probably have paid that but the £65 I paid is less than a top price ticket to most shows.

I have mixed feelings about drive-in performances. On one hand, it is an innovative way of social distancing and ensuring that performances can continue but the policy for many years has been to abandon cars, make learning to drive a very expensive pastime and the general expense of running a car as off putting as policy.
The environmental concerns are obvious but as someone who has often complained about how inaccessible theatre is before lockdown I think it will be even worse afterwards if it is limited to seasonal performances to people with access to cars.

Therefore you basically have to go with someone from your household or blatantly break the rules. Good for you that you have two other people who you can travel in a car with while adhering to the rules. If you live alone/don't live with someone who's interested in theatre in order to see it you have to pay a minimum of double. Two or more people get a good deal and one person gets a very poor deal. In other leisure areas you pay a single person supplement, not double. 'Find a way' is particularly offensive and insensitive. I'm not saying I'm not grateful for producers etc coming up with inventive ways to see live theatre and I don't even disagree with the principle of what you're saying. I am desperate to get back and am able to pay more than I usually would because I'm in a fortunate position at the moment. But some people aren't and to suggest that's because they're 'playing the victim' and not trying hard enough to 'find a way' is extremely rude. |

You are welcome to your opinion. It just seems like the default setting when someone doesn’t get their own way or can’t get tickets for something. Of course we are in unparalleled times. I haven’t felt the financial pain because I’ve had to go to work every day potentially risking my health, likewise my wife, my daughter and one of my sons so that people can continue ‘consuming’ or being taught / babysat. It was more the ‘have people to go with’ bit that sounded like ‘a victim’. The theatre community, especially the musical theatre community’ is one of the kindest and more inclusive groups there is. I’d say it was the ideal place to find someone to go with very minimal risk. It was perhaps rudely communicated (my speciality when riled...apologies) , but I haven’t been to the theatre since the day before lockdown and I’m not about to apologise for being excited about taking my wife to see one of her favourite things in whatever format. The offer still stands of a seat in our square. x |
