It’s the only new musical currently announced for this season with an original score! They have gotten good exposure in Chicago and Boston/Twin Cities run will surely enhance this. They’re opening in Spring which is good and it’s bound to get some Tony love. If it does well and sustains at the Atkinson, great. If not - downsize to NWS at the end of the summer and enjoy a healthy Off-Bway run.

FYI, the run in St. Paul, Minnesota in December is in a nearly 2000 seat venue. (The Ordway). What was/is interesting about Chicago is that there was very limited resale of tickets for the last week of the run. People were not offering their tickets up for sale. They preferred to see the show. It will be interesting to see who is in the Broadway cast - Samantha Pauley (Howard) is in Evita in London through September 21 and has left the Chicago show and won't be in Boston. Also, given the London experience, I presume Broadway is going to hire more alternates than the current two in the US cast.

And Xanadu, Chorus Line, Drowsy Chaperone and Come from Away are different? Lol Yes, they are actually. A Chorus Line is around two hours and Come From Away is 90 minutes. Ten minutes difference!!! Ooooooooooh! Hahahaha.... The fact is it’s FABULOUS and you feel satisfied and that you’ve seen a full quality 9/10 show. Soooooo many shows on broadway have been 7/10 over the past 2/3 years and that’s why they haven’t survived. I think SIX is going to be a BIG FAT HIT. I also think the ARTS theatre in London is too small for it. Broadway here we commmeeee!!!!

People have opined the short running time, which I am fine with. However as if the show is so short why is this locked into the regimented 8 shows a week? I am saying this because I would love to see this on Broadway, but not at the expense of another show. You know the regular Broadway set up is Tuesday to Sunday, with 5 evening shows and 3 matinees (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) seems quite sacrosanct on. With 70 minute run time, you think they could do 10-12 shows a week. I have already decided not to go back to New York as nothing is opening that inspires me to go. If they did a 6pm show on a Friday or 10pm Saturday show, I would be there. They're not going to hire that many performers for 10-12 shows a week. I also highly doubt the musicians and stagehand unions would be happy. I DO think that they could go the Hedwig route and not do any matinees. 7 and 10 p.m. sounds good to me.

10-12 shows would probably kill the cast as well.

10-12 shows would probably kill the cast as well. But it is only a 70 minute show. not like 2hr 30min, which would be more unreasonable to do more than 8 shows.

Must our first thought about shows (especially British shows) be about how long it will last or how badly it will flop? Unnecessary.;

Well caught this the other night- rather late to the party. Managed to get on the returns list and got a lovely seat, slap bang in the middle of row f. I won't lie judging from what I had seen, especially The One Show, I thought I would cringe the whole way through this show. My god was I wrong. After the first song, I was in. I smiled and laughed throughout. And sadly it was over in a flash.
Every single one of the queens could sing, and all amazingly. Not one of them gave less than 100%
Courtney Stapleton was great as Catherine Aragon- really enjoyed her song 'No Way. A great way to ease into things.
Next was Millie O'Connel; who after watching the One Show performance I thought I wouldn't enjoy. Anne Boylen deffo takes a lot of inspiration from Kate Nash & Lily Allen!!! But boy was I wrong. Her song is so funny, and Jesus she has great comedic timing. Loved the innuendos throughout, that would've slipped over the kids' heads.
Natalie Paris was on as Jane Seymour. She has a stunning voice; her song is highly emotional and it's nice to take a breather at this stage. What has she done before this, I am really sure I've seen her singing somewhere else- maybe even outside of theatreland. It's been bugging me for days!
Then there was Alexia Mcintosh as Anne of Cleves. Oh my lord. Her song was hilarious- and her facial expressions were next level! She was sassy, and I really didn't expect that from her song. One of my favs from the night.
Following her was Vicki Manser. A great performer, with a great voice, and an even lovelier person. Butt out of all the songs I felt hers was the weakest. I didn't really find it funny, and couldn't really grasp what she was on about! Men taking advantage of her is what I gathered, and really wasn't expecting a song on the whole subject! Its weakness is highlighted further as it follows one of the funniest songs in the whole show!
And they really did save the best till last, wow. Maiya Quinnsah-Breed. What more can I say? Her song was by far my favourite, even though I enjoyed all of them. The style was very similar to that to Tori Kelly, Solange and Alicia Keys. All of those artists I listen to, so no wonder it was my favourite. Her voice! Her voice is unreal- the runs and riffs. Just the whole song + her voice made for an extremely enjoyable final Queen song. And then it got better with the Queens doing a reprise of the song!!! Cannot wait to see what she does next, I will definately be watching eargerly. Would love a whole album of her beautiful voice!
The set was nice- fitted the concert theme. And was really impressed by how much they managed to do with lighting. Again fitting for a concert, but really did change the setting, and feel of every song!
The atmosphere was great, and I would love to see this run and run. Keeping it in the Arts will do this I imagine. It's selling out every night, so why jeopardize it by adding another 400+ seats to sell every night? The arts is far from beautiful and pristine, but it definitely works for this show. I think its issues would be heightened if this show had an interval. You're pushed into the auditorium, and shuffle out. Everyone around me loved it, one woman at least 60+ said she wished she could return tomorrow, as it's the best thing she'd seen!
Without a doubt will be doing all I can to see Maiya again before she leaves. This show lives up to the hype and then some. I don't get what you couldn't love about it. A great 75 minutes packed full of fun and killer vocals!
Easily 5*
Up there with Come From Away and Death of a Salesman, with the best things I've seen this year!

Well more US news. The show closed today (4 August) in Chicago, but they announced a return 16 week engagement starting 8 July 2020 to 25 October 2020. It is a 550 seat venue. The current UK tour appears schedule to 5 July - probably not enough time for that cast to be the Chicago cast.

And now Sydney, Australia for Summer 2020. Assuming Six doesn't quickly flop on Broadway, that's at least four casts (London, NYC, Chicago, Sydney) in Summer 2020. Oops, my bad. I read "Summer" and thought "Summer" but not "summer in Australia" - so the Sydney run starts in January. Sydney!

There was also a *massive* hen party in on the night I went, they cheered so loud! But were dead silent and unbelievably well behaved. They walked out from the auditorium when the stage door queue had already formed and everyone started cheering and screaming. Was great to see!
I only saw Vicki leave and when she got to them, she cheered and was talking to them for ages. Took loads of pictures with them. Amazing to see the cast loving it so much!

Not been mentioned here yet, but they're going onto Norweigan Cruises. Three cruise ships, in rotation. Think it's the start of next year- may be wrong!
What great news!!!!
Candace Furbert (Dreamgirls, Tina) has said she's playing Aragon. And also saw a recent graduate is playing Seymour but forgot her name!

The Norwegian cruises are Sept 2019 to April 2020 and apparently inclusive to the cruise price so all tickets will already be ‘sold’ as part of the package so no worries about losing money. My daughter is all over the worldwide MT teen sites which list HAMILTON,HADESTOWN,DEAR EVAN HANSEN,BE MORE CHILL,HEATHERS,MEAN GIRLS and little old SIX as THE shows to discuss atm.I am reliably told (!) that the fan base amongst teenagers in the States and in Australia are both massive so it is probably a chance to take the show abroad and see if it has legs.I would worry about the size of venues though.

Is there any tips for Rush Tickets with Six? I have tried so many times, but as soon at it hits 10am, I seem to never stand a chance haha! Am I being optimistic to think that I'll ever get tickets that way, or should I just bite the bullet and book in advance? Also any ideas/thoughts on who might be in the tour cast?

With such a small theatre and really limited rush tickets, you might be better off booking something in advance. Tour cast should be announced soon, given that they start in October and rehearsals should begin soon!

Cherelle Jay (no roles mentioned), Zara Macintosh (Aragon/Howard) and Hana Stewart (Seymour/Parr) will be new alternates.

So does that mean four alternates and one understudy?

Shenikah McFarlane is only there until October, so the three girls listed above will replace Courtney, Vicki and Shenikah.
Hana - Seymour/Parr Cherelle - Boleyn/Cleves Zara - Aragon/Howard
I assume Shenikah is only there temporarily or will be a tour alternate just due to her short window.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought Shekinah was joining for the cast change? 🤔 And that she isn't there right now because she's been on the American Idiot tour? Crazy short contract with Six, if so. Will be great for them to have 5 extra Queens, for sure.

Crazy short contract with Six, if so. Will be great for them to have 5 extra Queens, for sure. She's replacing Grace as an alternate from my understanding, but just until October. I assume she's going on tour with Six or has something else planned and will be back at a later date 🤷🏼♀️
