Double dose of debuts today, Vicki Manser is on for Katherine Howard at the 6.30 show and Courtney Stapleton for Jane Seymour at the 9.00 show. Spreadsheet please or nobody will understand! 🤪

All of this cover business is honestly confusing as hell The 9pm show last night was probably the best I've ever seen, the response from the audience was electric - lots of laughing and cheering in all the right places - and Courtney gave a really assured debut. I've also seen Natalie and Grace as Jane Seymour but I'd say Courtney is my favourite. She got a little cheer on her first line which you would think was distasteful but actually seemed quite sweet. The 6.30pm was much quieter but still a really supportive atmosphere for Vicki, she seemed very nervous but still gave a fantastic debut.

With apologies to martello736, hearing a SiX-style song in this evening's Showstopper has confirmed my decision not to see this show. Assuming they were mimicing accurately - and they usually do - then why are such unattractive accents used?

Most of the cast use their own accents which is pretty RP for most of them but Maiya (Catherine Parr) is northern and Vicki (alternate) is quite cockney. They are the only two that have a noticeably strong accent though I think.

I don't think the Showstoppers team have seen Six 😂 Marlow and Moss was a suggestion at the show I went to and it wasn't their style, I could be wrong though. Apart from one song in Six that is set in Germany they all keep their normal accents FYI

Millie's Boleyn is pretty cockney too.
I like the accents a lot. They sound British and real, unlike lots of pop style singers who go all American when they sing.

How does Showstopper interpret a "SIX-Style song", given that every song in SIX is a direct parody of an existing pop-song, of various genre?

This is true, I’d forgotten Millie plays it quite cockney. With apologies to martello736 , hearing a SiX-style song in this evening's Showstopper has confirmed my decision not to see this show. I’ve seen them do Six I think maybe three times and all were based on the title song, so a variety of verses with a chorus in between that involved lots of counting

In which case I don't know why the Showstoppers adopted the accent they did last night, which was that London/Essex/general South Eastern one that (and I know this sounds snobbish) I think sounds horribly common. The number they did last night didn't have any counting in.

I'm most interested and honestly didn't realise this! I knew that each of the Queens are based on a pop star but didn't realise this also extended to the songs too.

I should have said act rather than song but still. Someone has posted it here previously, 30 pages to go through though...

Ok, so I trawled back and there is one or two songs mentioned but couldn't find a full list. I did, however, find a list posted by Rukaya which gave the pop star inspiration behind each Queen:
Catherine of Aragon - Beyonce and Shakira Anne Boleyn - Lily Allen and Avril Lavigne Jane Seymour - Adele and Sia Anna of Cleves - Nicki Minaj and Rihanna Katherine Howard - Ariana Grande and Britney Spears Catherine Parr - Alicia Keys and Emeli Sande

Surprised to see this is playing the Mayflower in Southampton on it's UK tour. Seems a bit ambitious

Surprised to see this is playing the Mayflower in Southampton on it's UK tour. Seems a bit ambitious I know it doesn't work that way but NST City would seem a better fit than the massive 2400 seater that is The Mayflower. I haven't seen it but is it a big enough show to not look lost on that stage?

On that note, I went and checked both the Edinburgh Playhouse and Festival theatres as they are my local theatres and SIX hasn't been announced at either as of yet. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't go into one of these though, given it's success at the Fringe. The Playhouse seems too vast for the show though, so would hope it would go into the Festival with its 1,900 off seats or even better, take one of the smaller more intimate locations used by the Fringe, such as the Pleasance spaces.

Also, in case anyone is interested, the cast were just on BBC Radio 2. I missed it and have just checked to see if I can listen back to that clip however it hasn't been uploaded as of yet. Will let you know if it appears later on.

Update, there is one video online of this performance, however the sound quality is not the best. Courtney is Aragon and Grace is Cleves.

Does anyone know when the current girls are leaving? Desperate to catch them before they go!
And do the girls all have certain days off every week? There always seems to be understudies on, which is great for them!

There always seems to be understudies on, which is great for them! Right now it's just Grace confirmed to leave in August because of & Juliet. The schedule changes every week, but usually the U/S dates are put out a few weeks in advance.
