Funnily enough, I don't. And shouldn't it be the other way round, as Hunchback was written before Wicked (Disney film in 1996, German musical in 1999 vs Wicked in 2003)? Made of Stone wasn't in the film though was it? I didn't get the Wicked vibe with the film really. They obviously reworked it a lot for the musical. Maybe it's just me  No, but it was in the German musical, called "Wie aus Stein" (which I have, just for the record, never seen). |

The influence of the Wicked score has been pervasive since it first appeared - affecting even established composers like Alan Menken. I don't know Hunchback but I thought Leap of Faith had many Wicked-like sound moments. Wicked has become such a colossus we tend to forget just how original Stephen Schwartz's score was, and continues to be.

Wicked has become such a colossus we tend to forget just how original Stephen Schwartz's score was, and continues to be. (bolding mine) Comparing the song lists of the German version of Hunchback (that had its premiere in 1999) and the American version from 2014 on Wikipedia, there seem to be only three songs in the American version that weren't in the German version (namely The Tavern Song (Thai Mol Piyas), In a Place of Miracles and The Court of Miracles) - and we don't even know when these songs were written. Maybe they were even recycled from the Disney film. So Wicked couldn't have had much influence on Hunchback - mostly even none, just because Wicked was written after Hunchback. I'm not that familiar with Leap of Faith (in fact, I think it's Alan Menken's worst least good score), but I don't remember thinking "Hmmm, that sounds like Wicked" when I listened to it. |

Leap of Faith is a gospel music-based show so obviously doesn't have a Wicked sound overall - but it has moments, many of them.

Duncan Sheik tweeted that a London (!) Cast Recording of American Psycho will come out in March, a Broadway Cast Recording will follow later. I'm quite baffled that they would NOW release the London Cast Recording. Surely most people will now hold out for the new B'way Cast they're going to see live on stage?

So, was there ever a talk about a full London cast recording of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown? When it first came out the website featured some samples from the show by the lead characters. But there is an actual full official recording of it now somehow, which has gone out without any coverage whatsoever.

Last I heard, one of the shows have been recorded live late last year, with the intention of releasing a live cast recording. |

Amazing Grace - Original Broadway Cast Recording
A New Brain - New York Cast Recording
Allegiance - Original Broadway Cast Recording
Didn't even notice that all start with an 'a'.
And add to this the Mrs Henderson cast recording I had already preordered yesterday.
Still not sure about Color Purple though. I didn't really like the bits and pieces I listened to on Youtube.

Same here. Not listed at all in our German iTunes, and amazon.de says "available from 19th February" - but only digitally. The actual CD isn't even listed.
