Hello Everyone!
I recently applied for the rights for Les Misérables School Edition on behalf of a company I look after, however they have now been restricted to SCHOOLS ONLY and must be performed on the school premises, whereas in the past any youth company could perform as long as the entire cast were 19 or under.
Anyhoo... I was told on the phone that the rights have been restricted due to an upcoming UK Tour. Does anyone have any info on this? If it were to go ahead, it would be the 4th UK Tour: 1992/93, 1998/99, the 25th in 2010 and ... well, who knows!
Thank you for your time.
M.

It makes sense. The Lawrence O'Connor version is touring the US, so I could see Cam Mac touring it in the UK again given that the last time it did was in 2010.
Having said that- I would like to publicly announce that it's time for John Owen Jones to move on.
He was good in London back in the '90s, he was passable in the UK tour..But I saw him as Valjean in Dubai last year and he was stiff and without any stamina. Someone new, please.

It was originally supposed to be doing the rounds in 2015 as a 30th anniversary tour but for a variety of reasons it keeps getting pushed back. I gather that it finally is now happening, and should be starting some time around 2019/20.

If I’m not mistaken, the only rights given to amateur productions have been schools only since the 25th anniversary. Don’t personally think it will tour again yet.

Various regional venues dotting the I's and crossing the T's on this, having been blocking out slots for the past couple of years. One I'm aware of includes Autumn 2019 for 8/9 weeks. Hope that helps. indeed, think the launch is mid-2019 so hopefully we should have confirmation and tickets on sale in the next twelve months! Will be a great time for our regional venues on the touring circuit, with Lion King, Charlie and Phantom all set to go out around that time too
