Have to say Disney are pulling out the stops for Aladdin, the marketing has been excellent with lots of posters, bus ads and that started as early as February.

Really excited to see this in June!
I will admit to hoping it has more effect on me than Lion King did... I love the Lion King movie but somehow found myself a little bored after an hour or so - I would quite happily sit through two hours of Circle of Life repeats though! I just felt after the opening number the rest felt a little dull....

The problem with Lion King is that Circle of Life is the best song in the show, so everything that comes after is not as good. In Aladdin, much as I love Arabian Nights, there are standout songs later in the show so I suspect (and hope) that this will be better than Lion King.

I disagree, circle of life maybe the biggest wow moment but song wise there are plenty more. He lives in you is beautiful,and all the African music is great too. In fact aside chow down I'd say the whole score is pretty strong
The Lion King has some pacing issues for sure,but I'd never say the score is an issue.

Way too jazz-y*) for my liking. Hope the show sticks to the original Broadway orchestrations.

I am really looking forward to seeing this when it opens. I might be biased as Aladdin was my favourite Disney film when I was younger so doubt it can do any wrong in my eyes.

Really looking forward to this! I love the soundtrack from broadway but agree I hope it won't be seen as a big pantomime here. It really has the danger of being too cod. I think looking at the cast list we should have some good funny comedy moments but plus great big dance numbers. It's a big ensemble! They haven't been that active on Social media or TV yet though? I'd have expected a lot more, not much press at all like behind the scenes or rehearsal pics etc. That video doesn't really show off the show at all like the Broadway clips.

Considering people's attention span these days, they probably don't want to start the media blitz too early. I'm sure we'll get some promo pics in costume soon enough and the leads singing A Whole New World somewhere.
And even if actual English people would perhaps think it "too panto", Aladdin may do well on the tourist trade since it's a very popular/well-known Disney movie and the musical hasn't really been around Europe/the world yet like Lion King.
Here's hoping. I can't stand the idea of yet another truly new musical dying a death in London while all the jukebox stuff lives on.

This will have a good run.
When I saw it in both Toronto and New York it was superb, 5 star show, it's good to see Disney have finally got their act together, after the adysmal The Little Mermaid and the not too great Tarzan, would add Newsies to the list, but that was never designed to be a hit show.
