They did say one musical a year. I guess Hex not officially opening in 2021 and coming back proper in 2022 means technically, it’s still one a year. I wouldn’t count Strange Loop, it’s got many many producers.

Yeah I'd argue it's one a year too still - ASL they are co producing not at their venue and none of their team are directing.
Surprised this is in the Olivier and not the Lyttleton but I guess it's the biggest house and probably their most commercial show.
At least it's a solid creative team - I'm not a Lyndsey Turner fan but having Stephen Meat and Nigel Lilley gives me hope!

Would it be foolish to hope that the drum revolve could finally reappear for this? Or is it now completely out of action? Any experts around?

David Wood of course did an adaptation of The Witches 30 years ago and it had at least two London productions. More info on the David Wood adaptation on www.davidwood.org.uk/plays/plays_the_witches.htmI also remember there was a production one Christmas at Birmingham Rep which then toured and did a West End run (think it was Ruby Wax as the Grand High Witch?), also there was another production at the Curve, Leicester a few years ago which I think toured as well.

I remember seeing the original film where Angelica Houston plated the Grand High With.
To this day I have never forgotten it. Especially the little girl who went missing and ended up in the painting.
And the fact that all of the Witches are bald, with itchy scalps and wear wigs.
They also gave no toes and wear shoes squared off at the front.
But that little girl in the painting.....
I never saw the remake with Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer

I agree, completely horrific. I still think about the girl, and the witch who pushed that pram down the cliff hill.

I never saw the remake with Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer It's the horrified face of the father as he walks towards the painting that always used to get me. Oh and "she can't HEAR you!" said by the witch with the snake when Luke is calling out for his granny from the treehouse.

And the fact that throughout the years the girl keeps moving position in the painting, getting older, and whenever the Grand High Witch taps the painting, there a little yelp till eventually the little girl is no more.

It amused me, after a long day at work, that the music director for a show where children are turned into mice is... Cat Beveridge

Well I’m looking forward to this.
It can’t be worse than Hex and Pinocchio can it?

Well I’m looking forward to this. It can’t be worse than Hex and Pinocchio can it? I didn't see Hex- put off by all the bad reviews but I did see Pinocchio and I must admit, I was disappointed and didn't enjoy it.

Pinocchio was AWFUL. So dull and unimaginative, from what I can remember. Lots of black walls.
At least Hex was hilariously bad and looked good at least...

Oh I actually didn't mind Pinocchio! At least it had Audrey Brisson in it...

Ticket prices for this seem VERY high 😔 Thank you for saying this. I went to the website to look at them and saw tix were already onsale for Amex cardholders so grabbed a few. The prices seem like they always do for The National to me, maybe a few pounds higher but didn’t seem outrageous.

No £20.00 seats for this, which seems pretty bad

No £20.00 seats for this, which seems pretty bad There were lots of £20 seats across the run for all membership periods. Maybe some will be held back for public booking.

There are still £20 seats. I've just booked one for the first preview. But they don't show on the dates index page. You have to click through to the seating plan for each date and check.

There’s loads of £20 seats. I just clicked random dates and it looks like in the Circle, the last three rows on the right and left side are all £20 each and the first 3 rows of the Stalls are also £20, though it appears those seats are selling faster.

Just booked as I have an AmEx. Yeah weird that £20 isnt showing if you want to search by price but yes they are available, was about to buy one for 1st Jan but decided to go much sooner with a preview in November. Looking forward to it. Hex was awful but I thought their Pinocchio was ok, higher hopes for this one.
