Of course. But that doesn't change the fact it is still disgustingly elitist, even more so considering it's ostensibly a family show. It baffles me that people complain about ticket prices and premium seats when A the West End is 1/3 of the price of Broadway But on this thread people aren't complaining about West End prices, they are complaining about prices at the National Theatre which gets a taxpayer subsidy amounting to £16 million a year so their prices should be significantly lower than commercial West End shows shouldn't they ?. Also I'm baffled as to why the comparator always has to be Broadway, theatre prices in Paris and Berlin are lower than London. |

"so their prices should be significantly lower than commercial West End shows shouldn't they" Significantly is a matter of perspective... paying £40 to see Andrew Garfield, Nathan Lane etc doing Angels in America for me is a steal and an incredible use of taxpayer sums (which then get invested into a broadway run that recoups)? |

Compare The Witches to something like Hamilton. It *does* have significantly lower prices. The Witches tops out at £99 - and yes, that is very expensive, but it's not difficult to find shows in London charging double that for their best seats. And there were a lot of seats for The Witches available at the bottom price point - £20 - when booking opened (I managed to book one of them, and I do not currently have a National Theatre membership - I booked it when the tickets went on public sale, and it wasn't on the first day they were on sale either), and in the Olivier all of those seats have a good view of the stage, whereas for something like Hamilton there's only a handful of pre-bookable seats at a similar price point and the view from them is dreadful. |

There are tonnes of 20 quid seats and the top price is still half the price of other shows in London. 16 million a year isn’t much money. One annual musical and one major play can now cost that with rising staff and energy costs. Plus people on lower budgets can get the 20 quid seats, stand, do last minute dayseats, use today tix, TKTS or the many papering sites to get discounted or free tickets. I’ve seen shows for 3 pounds before due to these filler companies. |

It baffles me that people complain about ticket prices and premium seats when A the West End is 1/3 of the price of Broadway B there are more offers, rush seats, lotteries and day seats for the West End than regional UK theatre C the theatres all have cheaper seats at the back of the stalls and finally D most Brits I know spend thousands on alcohol smartphones food and holidays and don’t ever mention prices ever - a one time trip to the theatre is EXPENSIVE, ELITIST and a RIP OFF! Hm. Group bookings are super for discount too - just get ten mates together. You were literally just balking at the ticket prices for Rebecca lol |

Thats a huge cast isn't it? Indeed. Cut backs at the Nash? Can many other theatres afford this cast list? I'm pleased so many folk are getting work but when the NT pass round the begging bowl then my trotters are remaining firmly in my pockets It's a co-pro with The Roald Dahl Story Company, AKA Netflix. They'll be planning to open it internationally, turn it into a movie etc etc. It'll recoup and then some. |

Really looking forward to this one. A couple of days ago I picked up two £20 stalls row B tickets for a preview. Always sold as restricted view but seatplan views look great if you're happy to sit very close. I think that theatre in London can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it (for the most part).

They do say they've made more seats available at preview prices, but my chance of finding a decent £20 seat on the dates I can make doesn't look good...
