if I can I like to take the family to a play or show. I have one who hates a farce and two who hate musicals. But obviously nothing miserable or weird.....
Any suggestions?

Good question as even though it's for me only, I like a Xmas treat, farce & panto excluded, & have yet to find anything for this year. Stomp however is definitely my thing - I need sime dialogue, even in a musical. New openings probably don't happen at that time of year but could be an option if there are any?

Never too early for Christmas planning ;-)
I'm in the same boat. Need suggestions for a family of 4 (two teenagers), everyone hates something - musicals, farces, classics, modern etc. etc.
I love musicals and farces so will be focussing on those (!)
Past shows have been Wicked (success, well for me anyway), Peter Pan Goes Wrong (me again), that Harry Enfield show at the Young Vic (alright I suppose, no-one wanted to leave at the interval), Golem (okayish), Wicked (again, family getting a bit tired of it now).
Was considering Young Frankenstein but buying for 4 is quite pricey.

O yes, Young Frankenstein might fit the bill for us lot. I think Stomp a bit 'young' for one of us ( not me...)
We are seeing the RSC Christmas Carol. Not sure I can do both though also not sure which will be better.
Yes, it does add up but we don't do presents for each other, that is family, at Xmas. We give to other people where appropriate.
Thanks for the suggestions. My mind had gone blank so now I've got something to work on.

YF maybe too much of a musical......( tickets pricey I can see that now) it's also a bit farce-y at times. For me it borders on my tolerance of such things- luckily the Mel Brooks/Musical element balances it out. I'd vote for Christmas Carol at the Vic, a 'classic' that will probably be a strong production? Might even go myself as I'm down between Christmas and New Year! |
