This should be quite a hot ticket. Checking his bio, I'm reminded that Slater has done the West End before (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), but that was over a decade ago, and it has also been ten years since the last revival of GGR. I'm of the generation that remembers Slater fondly for Heathers and Pump up the Volume.

He also did Swimming With Sharks in 2007, with Helen Baxendale and a little-known fella called Matt Smith.

It's up on the ATG website now but tickets don't appear to be on sale just yet.

Whatever you do, do not dare discuss the play after you've seen, otherwise Mr Mamet will be sending you a large bill!!!

Int life funny? One minute you're sharing a caravan with Cleo Rocos, and the next you're sharing a West End stage with Christian Slater.

Tix are onsale to non-ATG card folk now via Lovetheatre. I've always enjoyed this without ever having the opportunity to see it onstage so quite chuffed

I'm really not sure quite what to make of this. Despite finding Mamet's most recent films pretty terrible, I love the Glengarry Glen Ross film, and would like to see it 'for real'.
However, I'm not quite sure what to make of the cast. The brits seem solid enough, but I'm not that keen on Christian Slater, at least on screen. How is he on the stage?

Are they charging a booking fee, though, floorshow ? Anything more than the prices I've quoted means that they will be. Yep, a whack of a booking fee (for BO collection no less..) but we are incredibly pedantic about seat choice - doubly so as one of us will be about 6 months pregnant when it comes round!

A word of warning to those booking this because they liked the film, the play is a fair bit shorter than the film, Alec Baldwins character was written into the film to beef it up a bit and pad it out (I'm presuming they're doing the original version anyway)

Time Out and Lovetheatre both offering priority booking for this at the moment. I had a look at Lovetheatres pricing last night and it looked ridiculously expensive, the ticket I had for the Pacino version on Broadway was cheaper than a lot of the tickets on sale. I'll wait for the inevitable offers before deciding on this.

Also during rehearsals for the film Jack Lemmon was superb: unsympathetic and hard-edged but as soon as the cameras started rolling he became all twinkly. I saw the world premiere of this, at NT, about 100 years ago.

Went this afternoon. Liked it (I do like Mamet which I know some are less keen on). Note first half is only 35 mins. We had half hour interval as there is a significant set change and by all the banging I think they had a bit of a delay. However we were still out after 1 hour 50. This reminds me of Speed the Plow here which was a short play unnecessarily lengthened by an interval (though in this case the set provides an excuse).

Tonight's performance cancelled after Robert Glenister fainted and collapsed 15 mins in. Was worrying That's terrible. It's now been announced that he is okay. The Sun (okay, not my favourite news source) has a report of the incident, which includes the information that two weeks ago he lost a case against HMRC that left him liable for ten years' National Insurance contributions to the tune of £147,547.
