This was rumoured to be the Christmas show at the Royal Exchange in Manchester with Maxine Peake (yes, you read that correctly) in the title role. I'd definitely have put aside my reservations about the book to see her do this role.
I wonder if there will be similar outside-the-box thinking at the Menier?!
(RX has now announced Guys and Dolls)

Saw this in Chichester, staged in the big tent worked really well. It will be interesting to see how it works on a small stage.
I think if Charlie Stemp was a bit older he would be perfect for the role.

Bookings opened today for this for those paying >= £250 to the Menier's membership scheme. Still no indication of cast. Do the booking elites get a heads up as to cast, or do they book blind?

Does anyone know the ticket prices yet please? £42.50 standard seats, £49.50 premier seats. Just a couple of pounds off those prices for previews. Seating is in the round. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again the prices are a disgrace..... sure they do sweet show but it's ultimately a downstairs grubby fringe theatre still. Works out cheaper to see a transfer!

I'm not too bothered about this myself but it is the first show my grandparents took my mum to see as a child in the West End when Michael Crawford was in it. I thought it would be a nice Christmas present for them all but I am put off slightly by the prices given I have to buy 6 tickets!

Far from favourite show (although the production at Manchester Opera House with Paul Nicholas in was breathtaking - I was a teenager and I haven't seen much theatre at that point ... ) This production could be fun, close up and in the round.
I can justify 42 squid for this

I hate those bench seats too where people inevitably encroach into your space. They just try and cram too many people on. The last time I went the person sat next to me was half sat on my space when I arrived and very huffily moved over. You wouldn't mind for £15-£20 but for over £40 I do at least expect a seat to myself! It will take more than this show to get me to the Menier again unless they cast someone awesome!

Last time I went, I made sure I was positioned precisely on my own seat when I sat down. I didn't bother going anywhere at the interval and stayed exactly where I had been seated for the entire duration so far, only for the woman next to me to passive-aggressively not-quite-accuse me of shifting into her space when she came back towards the end of the interval. Sorry lady, but if you have less space now than you had before, then perhaps you need to look to your manspreading husband for the answer to this mystery...

Saw the seating plan yesterday. As someone mentioned earlier it's in the round and 3 to 4 rows of seats only. So up close
