I pity the poor person they cast as Audrey. Ellen Greene IS Audrey and she will forever be associated with the role and whoever plays the part will always be compared to her.

Rebel Wilson and Josh Gad as Audrey and Seymour?! Are they kidding? I'm not convinced. If they have to cast slebs then my votes go with Charlie Day and... Amy Adams. I guess. Or Jennifer Hudson maybe - to be honest I kind of want to cast her in the musical version of everything.  I like Josh Gad and Rebel Wilson in a couple of things, but neither of them are known for being the most polished of vocalists, are they? |

Don't dream cast Cynthia Eviro as Crystal, Ronette or Chiffon whatever anyone does.
The plant will get big if it eats Rebel Wilson too!

I feel like Wilson and Gad are a believable couple - isn't part of the storyline that Seymour is the guy that could never get Audrey under normal circumstances?

But why can't a JoshGad-looking guy get a RebelWilson'looking girl "under normal circumstances"? If Audrey is supposed to look "out of Seymour's league" she should be more conventionally beautiful, I guess. |

I've only seen last year's tour with Steph Clift so I can't judge a lot about the character. And obviously everyone has their own beauty preferences, and I guess I am not the right person to judge the looks of Rebel, I'd better discuss Gian Marco's shoulders. I was referring to the idea that Audrey should look like someone Seymour can't date "under normal circumstances", but for me Rebel looks like a perfect pair for Josh, not someone out of his league. |

I think they could work with the "personality clash" here - Seymour is generally awkward and shy anyway. If Rebel's Audrey is a bit more brash and assertive than most Audreys (which doesn't mean, she can't also have a dreamy side that manifests itself in Somewhere that's green), they could play Seymour as adoring her but also being scared of her.
Anyway, while I am not keen on these updates of classics, I am not against them either. Laverne Cox's Frank.N.Furter was pretty spectacular. And if you keep reviving the musical on stage, why not give others the chance to do the roles on screen?

When I saw they were remaking this I was intrigued and saw Joesph Gordon-Levvit was rumoured as Seymour which I thought seemed like potentially good casting. I like Josh Gadd but feel Seymour is not the character for him and Rebel Wilson as Audrey seems ludicrous! I'm not being mean but she will probably ruin the role and if they are still doing the same musical she will ruin the songs that need a really great singer
Ike suddenly seynour. She also hasn't the wrong sort of comedy for the role, I never saw her in guys and dolls but feel her comedy does not work on these roles . The original movie also has a special place in my heart and I love all the practical effects in it and know a new version will have shoddy looking cgi. Let's just hope it is rumours.
