Extra matinee makes real sense as the shows market must be coach parties from out of town. Perfect for them

Awww news like this just makes me so happy! A show that doesnt look like a hit at first sight but still manages a decent run out of it with a fantastic cast and a great show!  Considering some on here saw it being closed before 2016 was even over, it really makes me happy! |

Interesting that when he was running through all the people he worked closely with on it, he didn't even mention Rachel Kavanaugh - in fact he was basically referring to himself as director.

removing wed eve performance and adding a matinee on thursday to replace. wed night must not have been a good night for theatre goers haha strange though ive never seen a show do that before! Beautiful did this too. Added a mid week matinee and removed an evening show. |

Interesting that when he was running through all the people he worked closely with on it, he didn't even mention Rachel Kavanaugh - in fact he was basically referring to himself as director. Unless you're a name like Trevor Nunn or Richard Eyre, you're overshadowed by boss Mackintosh. I wonder if the reason he uses directors like Laurence Connor for revisals of Miss Saigon, Les Mis etc as they're cheaper and/or they're easier to boss around. |

Well in September it would've been opened a year. Am so surprised it's extended to that far ahead but am happy for them.
Would be interesting to see how long it lasted if Cameron wasn't producing and it wasn't in his theatre?

I imagine it will extend to beyond that date, and possibly pull through to the Christmas period, but then close in January, along will possibly Kinky Boots. Considering it was a limited run, it has run longer than many thought it would already and it is a fantastic show. I would rather see a few shows that are either open or due to open soon close before this one does.  |

Previews started on 29th October so that's a run of just over ten months by 2nd September. It's great to see the doom and gloom merchants who said it would close before Christmas proved wrong. Thrilled for all involved. Might have to plan a Stiles and Drewe double bill watching this and Wind in the Willows again on the same day.

I also think it will have more to promote if it wins any Oliviers... I know they are not the boost like the Tonys but any promotion is good promotion. And I wouldn't be surprised to see it take the Choreography award. And Charlie, I personally think, is going to win the Best Actor award, its a stunning lead debut! And it will get more nominations alongside it!

And Charlie, I personally think, is going to win the Best Actor award, its a stunning lead debut! Charlie Stemp was indeed great in this, but personally I'd still give the Olivier to Andy Karl. |

Beautiful did this too. Added a mid week matinee and removed an evening show. The Woman in Black does Tues, Thu, Sat matinees. Inspector Calls does Wed and Thu and Sat matinees. Show Boat and Carousel did similar. It's not uncommon for shows where retired folk and coach parties and school trips make up a large % of the audience. Glad to see this extend. It's a fun night (or afternoon!) out. |

I don't think it's unusual to have a Thursday matinee, but what sticks out most to me as a little odd is to have a midweek matinee, this case on a Wednesday, but no evening show! Don't know if there's any other show that does a weekday matinee but no evening show to follow it? Could be wrong! Either way, if it works even better for them sales-wise, then great stuff!

Beautiful added an extra mid-week matinee on a Tuesday and removed the evening show. They have 3 matinees a week.

Pretty much full last night. Rebecca was on for Ann again and she has definitely come on leaps and bounds since I saw her as Ann back in November. This may have been her fourth or fifth show but you now wouldn't now she was u/s.
Only a few empty seats, large standing ovation at the end. Audience loved it.

There's no question Andy Karl will win the Olivier. His performance is in a different league to Stemp, who gives a perfectly serviceable standard chorus boy performance- lots of energy and grinning.
