Wow - long. And to think, the film is only 100 minutes... that would do me fine.
How was it?

Well we all know what Stoppard says in The Real Inspector Hound, don't we? Finishing after 10.30 is self indulgent. And I agree with that. ( and I dare say so would Pinter)

Have given back ticket for tomorrow night (Wed) due to long running time. They are taking the mickey with two intervals and as I am on my own it's too boring to spend 40mins just standing around, just for the pleasure of making me much later home! I doubt they will learn from their mistake.... It's not even as though one can get out quickly at the end...takes ages to shuffle out of the Old Vic! Disappointed as was looking forward to this.... Completely agree, my ticket for Thursday is going back tomorrow. The Old Vic seem to have lost the plot a bit at the moment, still haven't got over their outrageous dynamic pricing for Ralph.

When I looked this morning there was one ticket left....now quite a lot of tickets on the website. ..can't guarantee to sell mine as not sold out. Hmmmm. Won't refund ...I am not very impressed. Plus to sell it I has to get email, fill on all sorts of details on a form and mail back, despite having order number and leaving ticket at box office! Go to the bottom of the class Old Vic!

Bristol Old Vic production c.2003 was 3 hours with only two ten minute intervals, I think the Patrick Stewart Broadway one was 3 hours but with two intervals. It's a play that stretches or contracts seemingly at will, you can find others that came in at under two and a half hours.

Ditto again! The box office chappie said they had to sell the day seats first too, so I'm resigned to writing off my £10 (only £8 even if they do sell it!) I suppose that's the risk we take booking tickets before knowing the running time, but it seems the only way to see stuff without paying silly money. Perhaps their logic is that longer running times mean only Londoners can go and they * are they ones more willing to pay the rip-off, sorry, dynamic prices. (* some Londoners, not all, before anyone shouts at me).

Why couldn't they have got Richard Jones to do it, as I'm sure he would have got it down to around 90 minutes.

I don't understand why they couldn't just start it at 7pm? The same with Les Blancs at the NT which is 3 hours 15 minutes & starts at 7:30.

I am glad Les Blancs has tightened up but even if it is suspected to be over 3 hours any theatre, particularly in Warcus's position where he is director and artistic director, should make the start time 7pm, especially if the assumption is most patrons work/live locally. It would also encourage post theatre dining in the local area. I don't really want a dinner at 10:30pm.
It is just indulgent and unfair to those in home counties that need to get their train back.

Yup. No one minded that Oresteia went on for hours, 'cos they started it at 7pm, so we had prior warning and knew we'd be getting out at a largely reasonable hour. But not making any allowances for the self-indulgence is really what grates here.
Les Blancs was 3 hours when I went, though still said 3 hours 30 minutes on the free cast list, so I hope they're printing a new batch so as not to terrify people unnecessarily.

Am going tomorrow, there is a part of me hoping it's not good and I can leave in an interval but of course really I hope it will be great though I am forced to question now how much I like Pinter and is it enough for another cold windswept eve spent on waterloo east station. Perhaps the Old Vic does not consider that its patrons have to go to work the following morning and would like some sleep.

A friend of mine is working on it and that excuse is rubbish. Timothy Spall didn't know his bloody lines!!! First performance (26th March) cancelled due to 'a scheduling issue'

Well he seems to have learnt his lines so far, unless he's covering it up with so much growling and raspy breathing filling in the pauses

I liked it, and I wish I could like it more if I wasn't sat so far away
I have complained about this with Raineys bottom and Les Blancs because I got £15.00 Friday tickets up in the circle, when I could have got cheap tickets at the front if I booked early
That's my problem
What isn't my problem is that with these £100 seats, I am priced out of a reasonable seat at the Old Vic. I was sitting in row s, which was better than sitting right at the back of the stalls. But I could tell that this is a detailed and nuanced play that I struggled to engage with in such a huge place as the Old Vic
What about these day seats Jason mentioned. Is that true

Came down at 10.25pm on Wed night.
Very very good - three superb performances. Spall and Mays terrific. Great set. Needs to be seen up close. Spall did seem a little unsure of the lines especially as the play went on, but covered well - only second preview. A credit to the actors and the production that it did not seem like 3 hours. I enjoyed it more than I expected - not a huge Pinter fan! I don't remember the play being this long before but this production didn't seem to drag or be especially slow!
Ushers VERY strict on latecomers not being admitted - 2 seats next to me (front stalls) empty for Act 1, then an elderly couple turned up for the Acts 2 and 3. No re-admittance either if anyone left for the loo! This should be enforced at every theatre! As a consequence no distractions from the audience, no eating, no mobiles - an audience for the good behaviour thread!
