I think sometimes they need a bit of time to settle in- hopefully. Have to say I love Vivian as Duke. AIlsa and Ben are a very tough act to follow.

In a comment that couldn't possibly be related to this show in any way, I would just like to say that I love YouTube.

Well, I’m up to ‘Fight for Me’ and practically squealing on the sofa. It’s clear that Andy Fickmans hands are all over this. It’s perfect, damn, the crowd noise is exciting. Even the Lego & Fuzzy Felt set is well lit.

I'm in the States so was able to watch the Roku proshot. The filming is excellent - a pretty seamless blend of the two performances with audiences and no-audience performances (which were not necessarily filmed in order). I think it captures what it is like to see the show live - and my daughter who saw this in June confirms this. Note: there are breaks for commercials with graphics to break off - and some of the graphics are .... interesting and also laughable.
I like some of the songs - some of the performances - but the musical is not for me. Glad to have seen the proshot - don't need to see it again.

The way it is edited is awful.
It's a shame they didn't record it when it was at Haymarket. A much better cast, in my opinion.

I did finally get to see the new cast last week and thought they did a great job.
There does seem to be a lot of determination to play the roles differently to the previously cast, so that will take a bit of getting used to. I always appreciated Ailsa's generally toned back performance.
They have gone for an exceptionally good looking cast this time around, which is always a bonus.
The continuing cast is there as well, of course, and they are all excellent in their roles. I was also lucky enough to see Georgia Gagen on as Heather Chandler. She was perfect too.
It was so nice to be in the theatre where the audience respected the opening silence (and it is the only one I've been to which has played the National Anthem - quite an odd transition then to Westerberg for the start of the show).
I'm keeping my eye open in case Elliot David Parkes gets to make his JD debut. I have high expectations for him. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll be back before too long.

Went to see yesterday. I liked Erin’s Veronica - thought she played it well. I saw Elliot as JD and thought he was phenomenal. Kirk and Ram ( who was also played the understudy) were possibly my favourites to play that role thought they really upped the idiot boy roles and I enjoyed their performances. The dads were good and I enjoyed the new amiss Fleming. I have to say, for me, some of the ensemble -May and Eleanor particularly looked a bit bored and I kind of wish we could have a new Chandler - I don’t dislike Maddie but would like to see the role freshened up by someone else. Looking forward to returning at the end of October to see Nathaniel ( hopefully) . Was slightly concerned say the entry seats yesterday. Most of the back section was empty and my rush tickets were row E which though fab seats spews it wasn’t selling well.

Three cover Heathers today, Elliot as JD, three returning cast members! Yes, Hannah Lowther is back! Excited!

Got to say it was a near perfect show. Erin and Elliot have a natural chemistry together as the two leads. I thought Erin sounded fantastic and was really on this performance and she came across as a much more natural Veronica to when I saw her last time (I also saw some tweets which suggested she'd had a bad day before, which happens to all of us). Elliot is now my 10th JD and he played this slow and deliberate. Great voice too. As has so often happened during this run, I've preferred the Beleaguered Geek cover take on JD to the main lead (but I'd really need to see Nathanael more settled in to make a fair assessment).
There are only two male and two female ensemble members, so it was back like the old days.
Rory was back unexpectedly as Ram, paired with Tobias as Kurt, another great pairing.
We had Christopher Parkinson back in the male ensemble, on form again (the other male ensemble being Lewis Asquith).
Female ensemble were May Tether and Bayley Hart. May did her usual excellent job of keeping all the performances tight (and even the few times where people were inventing dance moves didn't look out of place).
This show was really about the Heathers, led by the returning Hannah Lowther as Heather Chandler. She can do no wrong! Eleanor Morrison-Halliday was on as Heather Duke. I've seen her cover this role a few times and she is also perfect. Then there was Billie Bowman making her (second cover) debut as Heather McNamara. I doubt she could have had much of an opportunity to rehearse. Great job, she had people cheering her and people standing after Lifeboat, plus lots of applause and centre stage bowing at the end of the show.
As I say, excellent all around and I would very happily watch this combination of cast again. But let's see who is available for shows for this coming week! A lot of shows are pulling in emergency covers, so there must be bugs going around.

A lot of shows are pulling in emergency covers, so there must be bugs going around. I was also there this afternoon and I am sadly feeling the complete opposite as you. My 23rd time seeing the show and probably my least favourite visit yet. While vocals were generally good, the acting was incredibly mediocre. Elliot definitely did not convince me as JD. An less that stellar accent and just fine renditions of Freeze Your Brain and MTBY. Hannah being back was the only real highlight in my opinion. Billie had a good start as Mac and I’m sure she’ll grow into the role more but Eleanor as Duke is very lacklustre. This just fell very flat for me. Don’t think I’ll be making many trips to see this cast which is a real shame as it has been my favourite show for quite some time but the magic is lost with this cast in my opinion.

Forgot to add, I had a very narrow escape today as Steve was sat right behind me. He was nice and enthusiastic so he got a lot more applause than usual.
I did hear the woman he was with apologising to him after the show.
The recent JD accent choices have been rather odd. I guess the idea is JD has travelled widely so could have picked up an accent from anywhere.
I also nipped into Waitrose after the show and emerged to nearly walk into one of the cast who was trying (I presume) to find a quiet place away from the fans for a chat and a smoke. I wouldn't dream of bothering them. Having seen the excited queues by the stage door, I always get away from that area as quickly as I can, so I'm not surprised at cast members wanting to do the same.

All considerations for why TOP really isn’t suitable for a long runner. The cast deserve enough space to comfortably relax between shows and escape the madness that this show seems to breed. I hear that Dr Tom is actually quite the nuisance; getting things signed every visit, giving the cast microwaves…that kinda stuff 🤣🤣🤣

Things must really be bad today as they're doing Heathers in a concert version (not there, but please report back if you are)!

From a rumour post by TheatreFan and remark made by Paul Taylor-Mills at MusicalCon, it sounds like this is going back out on tour next year. also heard speculation of west end transfer for Heathers in the summer of next year.

This transferring to the West End is financial suicide (as was proven by the original Haymarket in 2018)
If the show couldn't maintain a West End run with the original cast of theatre names, there's absolutely no way it can do it with the cast it has now. It only worked at the Haymarket in the summer of 2021 because...there was basically nothing else to see.
If it must still be playing - TOP is the only place that makes sense, but I'd much rather have TOP back for a different show...

Well I hope they get some swings! Went on Sunday, barely any ensemble. Understudy both dads/ Duke and Martha. NOt sure if Bailey wasn't 100% bit Kindergarten boyfriend was cut and she didn't sing at the end either. May disappeared for a while- I'm guessing to so some emergency blocking. It def effected the show- hopefully with a bit more space they will have a couple of swings.

I also find it disgusting that after they did their "concert" version of the show, they told WestEndCovers that they can't post about Heathers anymore as sometimes it's 'inaccurate information'.
PTM has always lacked appreciation for swings/covers. Even though they're the ones keeping the show afloat. Why hire people when you can give previous cast members a phone. It's sickening.

As has been explained before; there isn’t the space backstage for walking cover, so it has to be a swap out or a call-in. Uncle Bill isn’t gonna pay to have people on standby if he has a load of willing ex-cast members that he can call on. PTM is very well liked by the teams that work with him so there are people willing to do it for him & the show.

Does anyone know anymore information on this? It doesn’t seem fair on the cast to not get recognised if they go on for their cover role. All it would take is an official from heathers to let west end covers know the covers for that day so there wasn’t any mix up

I had no idea that had happened. Just thought they’d got very lucky with no one being off. Terrible!
