How is it ubiquitous? You hardly hide yourself from it Emi! If we go on MT message boards or follow it’s cast on social media we’re going to encounter it’s presence...😬 it is being marketed angressively at exactly the sort of theatregoer that can (thinks of delicate wording) aggravate, so it’s bound to rub us up the wrong way a bit. I think that their day-glo cash grab has been hilarious. x I do engage with it on here because it's one of the few WE musicals I've seen recently so can have an opinion on! didn't think that was a crime now But it does seem to be EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME which I don't mind in the short term, because like you say grab that cash cow and milk it...but lord knows i could live without it after. Besides doesn't Carrie need something else to vlog about by now?!! (you know i love her)! Beware cow tonsils....

MTA's twitter page is rumouring Heathers is to return in 2019. I'd like to offer up a solid 'no thanks' to that one. That's due to this tweet

Notice lots in this thread have mentioned mistakes the show has made and errors by the PR company. Would be very interested in knowing what you mean by this?

Do the people who dislike the content of the show really dislike the film too? Because when I first saw the show in New York (I saw Barrett Wilbert Weed as Veronica and Jessica Keenan Wynn as Heather C) I was apprehensive because I love the film so much, and have seen it countless times (it first came out when I was a young child, so had only seen it on TV/DVD until the recent remastered version which I saw at the BFI) I was really happy to see how faithfully it stuck to the original film. Obviously there are a few changes, but I went expecting to be critical as I've always been so obsessed with Heathers, but loved the show immediately.

I think people dislike it for a number of reasons. As an eighties kid who obsessed over the film at sixth form, I was pleasantly surprised that the musical kept the darker elements of the movie struggling only to recreate some of the classic ‘fantasy’ shots. I love how the music references Newmans synthy score. It is very much of it’s time which I guess could be alienating for some. People might assume that it is a bright & cheery teen romp a la Legally Blond because of the branding & it’s authors. Expectation vs reality and all that!

MTAS has posted on Instagram that this is returning in 2019.
Is this true? If so, where would it go? Haymarket has only Fools and Horses!

Really enjoyed this tonight.
Saw it at The Other Palace and this is a much better venue. Liked the front on staging and it benefited from the larger ensemble.
Amy Booth-Steele was on as Ms Fleming and I understand she only took over the role on Monday. Very good.
Carrie Hope Fletcher easily the highlight. Fantastic voice, even if it had a bit of sound sweetening.
I was in the fifth row. Perfect view. Almost all the audience are teenage/20s girls, which means you can probably see over them. I only counted a handful of men in the first few rows.
Luckily an older guy in the second row was chosen as Steve, with the lighting poised ready to highlight them. Ms Fleming doesn’t come down from the stage or touch him so he doesn’t really get the opportunity to speak back.
The teenage girls were loud! Not out of control. Just loud.
Stalls seemed packed.
Jamie Muscato was really good as well. Has his accent down to a tee now too.
And have to credit Nathan Amzi as a great addition to the cast. He nailed Dead Gay Son.
Can’t imagine that this won’t end up in another theatre (or touring) very soon.

She made him get up, and touched his hair and said "I faked it every time... but I really did love your hair".

Charlotte Jaconelli was on when I saw it and Steve was in the front row. She made him get up, and touched his hair and said "I faked it every time... but I really did love your hair". Looking at the audience, I don't think there were any potential Steve's to choose from in the front row (one teenage long-haired guy, but he didn't look the type to be chosen). The Steve dialogue was almost word-for-word the same both I saw the show, so they may also want to avoid the need for ad-libs.

Rebecca Lock almost never chose someone in the front row, her reasoning being if someone had queued for day seats there was a fair chance they’d know the show and know what was coming (this is specific to Haymarket, as TOP didn’t have day seats).

She thought it was absolutely hilarious that he was picked on! Amy Booth-Steele was on as Ms Fleming and I understand she only took over the role on Monday. Very good. I saw her first show on Monday. Her voice was great then too, but she was a lot better last night, much funnier in the delivery of all her lines.

I wonder if any deliberately book the show in the hope that their husband gets picked out? One thing I have often noticed, is that when Ms Fleming has chosen her Steve and is embarrassing him, any men sitting near me in the audience seem to be laughing much louder than they have previously. I think this is overwhelming relief!

Don't forget to vote for the show in every catagory guys, especially Best Original Cast Recording, that's the main one! 😂😂

If you vote for one of the Heathers girls in Best Supporting Actress, do you have to vote for all of them together? I mean, the red one was terrific and absolutely deserves a nomination but the green one was dreadful. Even if I did admire her pluck in going for her big disco number when she clearly can't sing it I don't think "having a go" really deserves a nomination for an award.

Saw this for the first time last night & really enjoyed it. I definitely understand what everyone here is talking about with the fangirls; there was a few in cosplay & they screamed after every song but I didn’t mind it really, an excited crowd is better than a boring one.
First time seeing CHF too & I get why she’s so popular, she really is fantastic. All the cast were great - except Green Heather imo- who just didn’t have anything interesting about her, but maybe that was just down to the script not making her interesting? Red Heather was a highlight.
Also, does this show just have a really small cast or are there a couple actors out sick? Because I noticed all the ‘adult’ actors doubling up as high school students too which was a little strange.

Because it might be excellent. (they may have got Bev in to do ‘I Will Never Shut Up Again’ with Nile Rogers funkin it up in the background. We live in hope).

Jenny O'Leary > the Heathers. Just saying.
Anyway, Patti has my vote.

Jenny O'Leary > the Heathers. Just saying. Did you see Jenny O'Leary's Tweets about people using their phones during Kindergarten Boyfriend? This was one: "To the woman in the stalls who sat with her phone out full brightness for my entire 4 1/2 minute song... cheers 🙄🙄🙄🤦🏻♀️" SO RUDE! And SO noticeable in that song!
