This is the kind of thing that puts me off booking I mean they aren’t really hurting anyone....they’re just sitting there in costume. I went on a Saturday matinee so peak fangirl time, and everyone was well behaved. There were whoops for a few favourite lines/songs starting but really not that distracting. Honestly the audiences at “older” shows are far more badly behaved. If it’s an idea they “shouldn’t be” dressing up, honest question (to anyone) why? I mean last night was Halloween anyway but in life in general, a bit of cosplay never hurt anyone surely? As far as I am concerned people should be allowed to enjoy whatever activities they like if it isn’t hurting someone else...as long as it isn’t ‘a bit common’ or ‘watching Hollyoaks’.

Rebecca Lock is in rehearsals for Kiss Me Kate so Charlotte Jaconelli makes her debut as Ms Fleming at today’s matinee (Rebecca back for this evening)

Overrated as hell. More thoughts later, but those Heathers are horrible, they shout, not sing, especially Yellow Heather.

Shame that you didn’t enjoy it. I think that the sheen has definitely worn off with the transfer to a bigger theatre, but without visibly upgrading it. It was a force of nature at The Other Palace but I didn’t enjoy it the same at the Haymarket.

I thought it was general consensus Green Heather is the worst of the cast... by far? I agree tbh.

mean watching Hollyoaks IS unforgivable. Uh oh I think theatremonkey.com is coming for me... Too right. "Hollyoaks" is the National Theatre to Corrie's RSC. Or, put another way, at the end of a hard day's work it's on at just the right time for me to relax and ogle attractive acting ladies unwind from the daily stress with something mindless. Hahaha I mean we all need some TV eye candy now and then! Holly oaks is like the Barbie Dream World of soaps, everything is a bit shiny and perfect looking and not quite real!

I haven’t seen it in years, but we can only get the terrestrial channels in our ‘luxury holiday apartment’ so I perused an episode, terrified that DuncanfromBlue would appear at any moment. Seems that the ‘village’ of Hollyoaks has had quite the upgrade with all sorts of amenities that weren’t their before plus trans teachers, regular murders and that bird off of Legally Blond that tried to run Aoife out of her job. Not as realistic as, say, Corrie?!? 😂

Ok, so I finally have some time to post my thoughts.
First of all, house was full. And lots of dressed up attention wh0res. A couple of them were especially annoying, you could tell they were checking if people were looking. I really hope they grow up.
Merchandise stand was so busy. And 10 pounds for a freaking brochure.
Carrie Hope Fletcher and Jamie Muscato are amazing. I can't stand her but you can't deny she has talent and works so hard. They sound better than the ones in the original cast recording, for sure. I loved his "Meant to be Yours", probably my favourite performance of the whole show.
The three Heathers as I said yesterday are annoying and their performance is BAD. Stop shouting, seriously! I know Green is unpopular here, but for me Yellow was the worst.
Jenny O'Leary is great, loved her in Groundhog Day and Rent, and wish she had a bigger part here. When she appears in a wheelchair she had me in stitches (I know it's wrong).
The bros in their underwear, thank God for that.
We had the understudy for Veronica's Mom/Mrs. Whateverhernameis. I know it was her debut, but come on, the role isn't that hard. Weak, weak, weak. As weak as the rest of the ensemble.
Everyone loved it judging by the deafening applause and cheering after every single song.

Am I the only one who can't wait for this show to close? I enjoyed it when I saw it, some of the cast are great, but the fans are so annoying, and seeing it constantly on Twitter and Instagram is boring me so much more than any show, possibly that I've ever seen. Matched with their mistakes in pricing, promotion and everything. It's closing can't come sooner for me.

That show's target audience seems to be the same.

I’ve seen it five times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. My friends who never go to the theatre (the only thing they’d seen in the West End before was The Commitments) bought premium tickets off friends who could go last night and they absolutely loved it. I think it struggled with ticket sales initially but the last few weeks are looking busier and it did amazing business over the two half term weeks. I guess the fans may seem more “concentrated” due to it only running 12 weeks, but you get those same insane “fangirls” at Wicked and other shows.

I think alot of stuff about the show has just left a bad vibe for me. It's not just the fangirls, although it does annoy me too that no show will win any audi nice voted awards other than Heathers because of the fangirls (of it wins Set, Costume or any of those awards I swear to god). It's multiple other issues with the way the show has been run: the pricing and claiming it is an expensive show as the reasoning (with only one set, one costume per cast member and no special effects) in an Off-West End house. Also, that there has been multiple issues with its promotion itself, from the sing along performance to the stealing images from fans without credit. It's just left such a bad vibe for me, and that kind of stuff really does bug me.

Remember that these shows often represents many peoples jobs, and they may not have anything lined up after it closes, I don't think it's great form to wish for early closure. I haven't seen any social media stuff about Heathers particularly, can you not just unfollow the people/accounts that are obsessed with it? A good unfollowing session is a very cathartic experience!

Hmm, it's up against Hamilton at the Whatsonstage awards....
Cost wise, I guess they need to at least try and recoup money back during the run. Maybe if it's successful it could be a good model for The Other Palace going forward. £55 is their standard top price through the week with lots of cheaper dynamic pricing available online too. Not wanting to compare to Hamilton, but they only have one set too.

It's tough to do the whole unfollowing thing when the people you do wanna follow are tweeting about it or liking stuff about it all the time haha. I get that I should just get over it, but ever since PTM felt the need to put out his "statement" the day after the announcement of the show, it's just been an ongoing annoying with it.

Prices shouldn't be like that, and set wise, yes Hamilton is one set, but it looks expensive, has many revolves and is designed to be a West End show. Heathers looks cheap, has nothing special about it, and doesn't look like it belongs on the West End. Even fans have said it worked so much better at The Other Palace.

As someone who loves this show, it’s comments and attitudes like this that put me off posting anything in here because of feeling like I’m going to be judged for enjoying the show or that it’s just go to set people off again listing the reasons they don’t like it. I don’t disagree that some mistakes have been made, but other productions have made similar mistakes ie. with regards to pricing and yet have not been vilified in the way you’re trying to do with Heathers. (And whilst initially the pricing may have seemed like a mistake, it really isn’t doing badly right now) You don’t like the show and can’t wait for it to close? Great, how about you just let it get on with its final few weeks and then it will be out of your hair, but you don’t need to keep posting about how much it annoys you.

Hamilton was originally designed for Off-Broadway... I don't actually think the Heathers set looks any cheaper than the set for something like Jamie tbh. Yes it's much more basic but that's all it needs toe be. I know you were very complimentary about the show when you first saw it so not sure what's changed? Many fans who said it worked better at the Other Palace, fair enough, but it will if you're comparing it to a view from the balcony or upper circle. I wasn't able to see it at the other palace as it sold out before I could get a ticket. A Hamilton stalls seat is £100 (and a lot more for premium). A Heathers stalls seat is £55. "West End" prices are a bit obscured and subjective, especially since somewhere like the Chocolate Factory can now charge £50 plus for a revival of a Fiddler, and sell out the entire run. We pay £15 for 42nd street dayseats, yet £25 for Company, and yet 42nd St has atleast 30 extra cast members. There are plays with two actors which charge £100+ for tickets, whilst down the road another play with a cast of 20 sells them off for £15. It's all about that question - how much can we charge and how much profit can we make.

Great, how about you just let it get on with its final few weeks and then it will be out of your hair, but you don’t need to keep posting about how much it annoys you. Firstly, please don't feel put off posting here, different opinions are ok and I'm glad you love the show, as it seems many do. I get I'm in the minority and again, that is ok. With regards to mistakes, yes, other shows make mistakes, but this, in it's short time, has been one mistake after the other it feels like, but that's only because it is a limited run. I never said I didn't like the show. It's a great show, with some great performances, particularly Jodie Steele and Jamie Muscato. I wouldn't want, in any instance, for anyone to feel my opinion is an attack on you as a person or as a fan, and I get that social media wise, it's not every fan that has been annoying or, quite frankly, insane (though some of them are out there). I completely resepect your post and opinion, and hope you keep posting because your posts are always nice to read, including this one even if it is a critique of what I initially wrote.

But alot of the outside forces have made the show get the bad reputation I and I know some others have felt. Which is a shame, because this had the set up to be something really special. But like anything with big fanbases and large following, backlash follows suit and it may not be a reflection on the show, but rather the outside aspects that therefore have an impact on the production itself in the eyes of some. (I feel that doesn't make sense but I know what I mean). 😂😂

Haha no I completely get what you mean, I guess look at Funny Girl, that had a lot of disastrous publicity when it first transferred from the Menier. I haven't really seen a lot of the negative stuff going on in the fandom for Heathers, only the bit of backlash to the singalong.
I'm definitely going one more time, and can maybe squeeze in one more depending if I get called out to work. I think with a show like this it could be a while before it's back.

The upside of the closing is it was always a limited run. It's not an early closure and it's not an extension gone wrong, the cast and everyone knew, so hopefully the cast have future projects already lined up. 😊

Fair enough if the show was closing EARLY and Daniel was saying this, feel mad, but considering it's coming to a natural end soon anyway I don't think there's anything wrong with the original comment.
