It was very badly received on Broadway. Ah thanks. Yes I though I recalled that. But as it is transferring I though I must have been remembering incorrectly. |

It sold very well though, at least in the first months/year. So many people must have liked it.

Well I would wager most people that bought tickets only saw it once and were attracted to it being a family show with a recognizable story to people that knew the film and the Peter Pan connection etc. But yes it has its fans as all shows do. |

I hope that this does appear at some point, I bought the cast recording and really like the music, and love the film that it is based on.
For those who saw it on Broadway, what was the problem with it?

Saw this on Broadway last week and I must say I was disappointed. I love the film, the cast were great and yet it felt like it was missing so much. Some parts were wildly ott and melodramatic, which didn't work. 'Jokes' fell flat, most of the songs were just okay, but felt too modern and the end reveal came almost out of nowhere. On the plus side, the costumes looked great and the finale was quite amazing. But overall it felt too American and way too modern too. Id give it a 3/5. Sad as I was very much looking forward to it. Still, I'd probably give it a second chance if it transferred. To answer Confessor's question, I've just found my post from February when I'd just seen the show. Think I'd maybe knock my rating down to 2/5 in retrospect. Don't remember what the 'reveal' at the end is now though... |

The beautiful glittery thing (column?) in which Sylvia disappears at the end when she dies I suppose. It was breathtaking! |

Also felt Alfie was miscast. I saw Matthew Morrison's understudy who was great and did the best with the material he had been given. He couldn't make an average show any more exciting though. I loved Laura Michelle Kelly though and wish she'd had a few more songs. |

Like ALW said it would be a conflict on interests to open JCS and SOR in the West End at the same time, surely it would be the same for Gary to have The Girls and Finding Neverland both open in January. I can see this maybe coming February/March now, especially as no ideal theatres are obviously available.

He's had multiple shows playing at the same time for the majority of his career..It's actually only relatively recently since this has stopped happening (and is now happening again in the States). Doesn't make sense especially since JCS and SOR are completely different and would cater to a different demographic altogether. Ditto to The Girls vs Finding Neverland. I think it could make sense if they were personally funding it (especially for Barlow) but since most shows are not produced by multiple investors, that argument doesn't even float. |

A minority of at least 2. I liked the music for the Leicester version. I felt the problems were more with the book & was very disappointed that they completely dumped the first score. I could have understood if they're re-done some of the songs but I thought they ditched some really lovely melodies. |

Oh gosh I hope not! I really like Gary and everything, love his voice but I don't think he'd be a very convincing actor. Even when he's being himself he comes across as wooden and stilted don't you think? Saying that, GB would be a better option than warbling opera guru Alfie Boe, but IMO Gary's not the right casting for JM Barrie.

I would love to see Rosalie in this as Sylvia, however I think in previous interviews regarding her role in The Threepenny Opera and The Light Princess she mentioned she's more interested in newer projects and not so much established musicals. In this case, Finding Neverland has had a year long run on Broadway so not sure she would go for the role but perhaps because she's been involved with a previous production of Finding Neverland (as it was pretty much all scrapped and re-done since Leicester) she might consider it. I think she'd be a good fit for this. |

It was nice seeing the big three stars on Broadway but honestly the score is just not up to much. Two good songs, three at a push. The rest were bland, like Take That B-sides or moronic kids tunes. The story and the book were relatively fine, and the production was great in a lot of moments, for me it was Barlow that was the issue.
(And the spoilered bit viserys wrote about was breathtakingly beautiful.)

Rosalie Craig definitely won't be involved in this as she's just announced on Twitter that she's expecting a baby. The Threepenny Opera cast threw her a surprise baby shower today.
