I got very excited about this for a second, when I thought it was the much mooted Jake Gyllenhaal transfer.

Saw this tonight - I really enjoyed it. My first time seeing this musical! Now I'm gonna check out the PBS broadcasting of the original 80s production.
Cast was great, especially the leading lady. Would recommend checking it out if you have time this weekend

Was there last night. Quite a good production. Leads are good - enjoyed their voices and acting. I was not convinced about some directing/staging points, but overall we had a good time.

How is it staged? - Cardboard cutouts, projections, muppets? Please and ta The action takes place around a series of large canvases which have variously have drawings, are blank or light up to show paintings.

Saw this Thursday evening, my first time with this particular musical. I must admit that I have a love-hate relationship with Sondheim. Love Merrily and Sweeney Todd but hated A Little Night music. Sunday in the Park with George was somewhere in the middle for me. I really enjoyed the first half, the second not so much. Having said that the cast were excellent, some great talent from some very young people whom I am sure we will be seeing more of in the future.
I am a bit sad about the changes at The Other Palace. I loved the feel of the place previously but feel that it now has a completely different vibe about it. Maybe just me though.

What changes have they made?

The restaurant (The Naughty Piglet) is now upstairs while the downstairs space is just a bar I think. There is no desk in the foyer where you can pick up tickets or programmes, that has been replaced by a few stools and a small bar. The Box Office is now further in next to the bar.
I also didn't think that it looked as good from the outside. I hope I don't sound too snobby but to me it seemed a bit more downmarket.
It is very hard to describe but it was just the feel of the place for me but this is just my opinion and I'm sure that others will disagree.

I agree, i thought i had turned up at the wrong place saturday, there was also an unwelcoming atmosphere with at least three staff barking at me "have you got your ticket"! Not good.

The restaurant (The Naughty Piglet) is now upstairs The main restaurant has always been at the top of the marble staircase? Unless they re-modelled since February when I was last there, the box office is opposite the main doors as you come in, too? Not anymore.

Odd move - though it was a pretty big box office counter, admittedly. When I was there on Friday, they had a 'ticket collection' point to the right of the main theatre door (with the security guy checking bags pointing people in the right direction on entry) and I didn't really notice the box office, but on thinking about it, I'm assuming it's between the lift and the bar where the food service point for the 'non-Piglet' eaterie used to be. They now have another table and stools where the box office was. They've certainly changed the mood of the place - feels more 'rough and ready' for want of a better phrase. Have to say, I don't mind that, and it's maybe more in keeping with their purpose of being a workspace for and a place to nurture new work/artists/etc. Also, as they now see the bar as their 'third space', I guess they're optimising the space they have there... "Our third space, our bar, as well as serving drinks, will be a space used for open mic nights, networking events and events."

The place used to feel soulless, a bit like an international hotel on a ring road. I'm not sure if it's now any better, it's certainly no Watermill Theatre
