FYI, Gypsy has just been released on Blu-ray in the States. www.blu-ray.com/movies/Gypsy-Blu-ray/161558/#ReviewI saw this (twice!) from front-row center at the Savoy and am so happy to now have a permanent record of this production and Imelda's amazing performance.

Thanks for that. For the price I am going to get a copy and can delete my copy from my Tivo box to free up some space.

Anyone else noticed on thr back of the DVD that Gemma Sutton is the only main cast member missing off the cast list at the bottom of the DVD back...

Does anyone know if the bluray is region free or region 1 only? Hmm, for what it's worth, check it out at HMV.Com and that should give you the information you need.

Santa brought me my copy looking forward to sitting down and watching it, somehow managed to miss it every time it was on the tellybox!

I ended up having to ask a HMV worker, a friend of mine, to go out back and grab me a copy I had asked him to put aside for me. It had sold out in the HMV in my home town!

Can anyone help me w two questions?
- If they are dirt poor and the whole troop eats for a 'buck', how can they afford to keep a dog? Wouldn't a lot of hotels etc. not allow them in for having a dog as well while they're travelling around like gypsies? Sounds like a huge inconvenience for someone like Rose that's so self centred anyway
- Why are the 'experienced strip ladies' so reluctant to read lines? It sounds like a more dignified role than 'doing it with a horn' or having a light up vagina.

By the way Fopp (the shop, on the corner near Harry Potter) has the DVD for £5 currently, should anyone still require a copy. Or a back up copy. Or a cheap Birthday gift.

This may be somewhat a strange question, but just curious... in Act 1, did Anita Louise Combe and Louise Gold have any on stage Ensemble moments before coming on in Act 2 in their Stripper roles, and did Dan Burton and Gemma Sutton vice versa? Or did they just sit backstage and wait to wait for Act 2/Bows? I'm assuming the latter as there doesn't seem to be that many Ensemble roles to really perform but I'm not 100% on that.

Anita and Louise Gold were stage parents in the first scene with Uncle Jocko.

Louise Gold was the secretary handling the auditions.

Louise Gold was the secretary handling the auditions. That was Julie LeGrand who did that scene.
