Anyone who, like me, missed seeing this in Chichester in 2014 and was disappointed that it neither transferred nor toured, will be interested to hear that it's returning next year. At least, according to a newspaper interview with David Haig.
Plus, intriguing that he added "I am also working on something with director Jonathan Church and we are trying to find a venue at the moment."

Based on his previous work, I'd be delighted to see anything else by David Haig, but can we please see Pressure first?!

Saw it in Edinburgh. And accent issues (and some historical revisions/omissions) aside, loved it. One of the highlights of our UK theatre adventures.
Given the length of time since then, however, I wonder how much it will have changed.

We can only hope the new incarnation will be as good or better. And for those who have the choice while a production is at CFT (or any other regional theatre producing good new work which sometimes goes on to tour/transfer), if only there was a way of knowing in advance which would do so! Had I known there'd be no other opportunity for several years to see Pressure, I'd have tried harder at the time to make it to Chichester; conversely, there are things I've seen there which have then gone on to tour extensively (e.g. Fracked, which seems to me to be clogging up far too many of my more local theatres currently, though that's obviously a very personal view.) The one thing which does seem clear is that merit doesn't determine this...

I saw the Guildford date in the new season brochure but no amount of googling would bring up any tour dates (hence no post from me at the time) - yet this must be going to at least one other venue, as it's a co-production. Usually UK Theatre Web is good for tour details but nothing, so thank you to johng for the info.
EDIT: like Lynette, I too wish to know whether this is going to London afterwards and whether David Haig is still in it as well as directing. Shame he doesn't appear to do Twitter, or I'd try asking there.

A click on the link confirms that David Haig is indeed starring, and the website also lists the tour dates. No London dates listed

I did see that DH was shown as starring but it really wasn't clear - to me, at least - whether that was just info from the original production and so far as I could see, this isn't covered in the individual venue details. Here's hoping...

The page for this on the Edinburgh King's Theatre, where the tour visits in Feb 18, says "Ably supported by a talented cast of ten, David Haig plays the leading role of Group Captain Stagg."

This is produced by the Touring Consortium which is set up to tour serious drama throughout the UK to fill the lack of commercial provision. The Touring Consortium wouldn't risk producing a West End transfer themselves and there are several people on this forum who would complain that a touring production shouldn't be in the West End because they prefer to see lots of money wasted in West End set design. I'd be very surprised to see a West End transfer.

Nowhere in Wales, nowhere in the Midlands... again. A "UK tour" is a tour within the UK to more than one venue - not to everywhere in the UK! Obviously, venues will book the tours that they think are likely to be the most profitable, or the least financially risky, while achieving some degree of balnce in the venue's programme across the year. This play is unheard of to the general public. In Wales, I would guess that only Theatr Clwyd might have shown any serious interest in hosting this tour and they only have about four weeks available each year for such visiting productions, as they are presenting their own productions and local community shows for the rest of the year. |

I know what you're saying, but it's so frustrating when a company announces "OUR NEW UK TOUR" and it's just going to Cambridge, Bath and somewhere in the home counties. It happens all the time.

I think that The Real Thing is only playing Theatre Royal Bath, Arts Theatre Cambridge and Rose Theatre Kingston, but that's because those three theatres got together to co-produce a production which they judge to be suitable for their core audiences. |

The Real Thing was the one that I really noticed recently. I want to see it, but I can't justify the cost of travelling that far. But they were merrily tweeting away about the "uk-wide" tour. Oh well, I know it's my choice to live where I do. It's frustrating though.
