Watched In the Heights again last night. Still my favourite show in town right now. Jocasta Almgill had to step in for Jade Ewen after the interval (Jade accidently got hit in the face by a fellow cast member during Blackout). She was brilliant. What a voice! The whole cast was fantastic. Sam Mackay and Joe Aaron Reid remain my highlights.

Hi all, quick question - what time would I be out from this after an 8.30 show? Completely forgot to check running time and I have a bus at 11.30!!! Feeling pretty gutted now as I think I'll have to miss it

They are tickets bought for me for Christmas and the person didn't check the time and unfortunately I'm about 4 hours away from London.

Saw this again the other day on a Thursday eve. Sad to see the audience only half full for a cast giving it their all. Enjoyed the show but was a little distracted at how cold it was in there! Thankfully tea was available from the bar!

Agree that it was rather chilly in there last week. Made it a bit harder to get into the "hot summer days in Washington Heights" setting of the show.

Thinking of seeing this in April when I'm down for Sunset Boulevard. Not sure it will be "me" though. I'm not a hip hop type... Thoughts?

Thinking of seeing this in April when I'm down for Sunset Boulevard. Not sure it will be "me" though. I'm not a hip hop type... Thoughts? You should definitely go. It's a fantastic show, and I think you'd regret not seeing it. I'm neither a hip hop type (in fact, I absolutely hate anything Hip Hop / Rap), but I hugely enjoyed this show and even returned for a second time. In fact, I'm even considering going for a third time. And the score is not entirely Hip Hop but has also various other styles and elements.

You don't need to like "hip hop". It is very much a "musical theatre" score in a way.

Yes, i'm not a fan of hip hop either but there are some great musical theatre songs in there, some great latin and the hip hop songs are entertaining and used mainly to tell the story, so you almost listen to it as a narration rather than listen to it as a hip hop song. If that makes any sense? I don't know if that's how others saw it but it's how i did.
Don't be put off at all by the hip hop is what i would say.

I second what has been said re the hip hop style of the show. I'm definitely not a hip hop fan but love the music in this show. There are hip hop elements in it but as mentioned above mainly to tell the story. A lot of the melodies in the show are absolutely beautiful. Definitely give it a shot.

I wasn't a fan of hip-hop before I saw the show and I haven't really listened to much hip-hop since seeing the show. But LMM is a genius, arguable the biggest thing in MT since Sondheim.

Is there a specific side thats better to sit on than the other? Platform 1 or 2. How does the stage work. are seats only in the middle section of each of those platforms? Any advice of where is best to sit would be appreciated. There's no theatremonkey for this theatre!

Any advice of where is best to sit would be appreciated. There's no theatremonkey for this theatre! I've sat on both sides and there really is no better or worse. Go for a seat as central as possible on either platform. The performers use the space in front of row A during the show so if that bothers you I'd go for row B upwards.

Thanks Steffi. I can get 12.50 tickets the night we can go in centre of row G. Seems like a good baragin. Front four rows are selling at premium price of 60. Felt 12.50 was quite a bargain!

Thanks tm I went and checked theatremonkey.com and found the above earlier. That's put the tin lid on it.... Not going. My party are are all big tall lads and the J seats weren't available. It sounds horrifically uncomfortable. PLASTIC SEATS? Sounds like a cafeteria. Shame because the show sounds fab. I've booked us in for Les Mis instead

Got the 12.50 seats here... theatremonkey.entstix.com/tickets/in-the-heightsGoing end of Feb on a Monday night. I've listened to cast recording and like it but don't love it so Im not going with massive expectations so 12.50 was a good deal for uncertainty. I'm afraid to say there's not a huge amount on this trip that we want to see... splitting it 5 musicals and 5 plays! Usually its majority musicals.

The problem I had with the seating is that the rake seems to be quite shallow, and as I was in the back row, my view would have been thoroughly impeded had I not had a rucksack to sit on. If you can get the first few rows, it should be okay, but once you're looking down at the stage rather than across as it, you'd better pray for short people in front of you. I would absolutely not take a child to see The Railway Children here unless we could get front row, 'cos I fear they'd miss everything.

For 12.50 I'll take the risk. Wasn't going to pay top dollar for front row seats. I suspect on a Monday night it wont be a sell out so we may be able to move as well.

I'm in the same boat as Burly Bear. Not seen this yet but heading to London for the weekend in early April and considering a King Cross double header of The Railway Children on Friday afternoon and In The Heights on Friday evening. I'd just about decided that In The Heights wasn't for me (even though I'd like to see Philippa Stefani tackle a lead role) then I saw this thread and was back to square one! Time to take the plunge and book it I think!
