I'd quite like to see Calum Howells take on the role of Emcee in this. I thought he was brilliant in She Loves Me. Sally is bound to be a celebrity though. At least Michelle Collins would be too old.

Cabaret was one of the better BK tours last time, a good production I felt. Sheila Hancock as Frau Schneider was excellent. I saw Samantha Barks and she was excellent in the tour. The casting of the Emcee's were dodgy though. James Dreyfus, Julian Clary, Wayne Sleep - all dreadful. It had multiple cast changes in the West End and on tour.

I always thought the Emcee was more of a "celebrity/star role" or whatever you want to call it than Sally, pretty much since Alan Cumming did it on Broadway and was classd at the Tony's as a "leading actor". |

After her stint in 'The Halcyon', I would like to see Kara Tointon have a go as Sally Bowles.
As for the Emcee I would love to see Will Young return to the role.

Cabaret is one of my favourite musicals, I've seen a variety of productions now and some have been more effective than others but none have been downright bad. Hoping for a Tunbridge Wells stop like the last tour had.

I read this and my initial reaction was 'Noooo!' However, thinking about it for.....oooh......4 seconds you are absolutely spot on! They'd have to age him a bit though, he's a bit young and innocent. Thank heavens Michelle Collins is old! Can Katherine Kingsley dance? If so, Dominic Tighe could play Michael York and we could have a cast reunion! |

My mum said she thinks Reece Sheersmith could be a good emcee. I think sally Bowles could be any young female to or stage star. SOke oeople km thinking of are Carrie Hope Fletcher, Joanne Clifton maybe Samantha barks again. I will definalty want to see this tour and it looks good but I really want the Sam Mendes version with Alan Cummings and Emma Stone( even though I know it will probably never happen again  . |

Never seen Cabaret so really looking forward to this! Sounds like ATG tour so fingers crossed for stopoff in Birmingham Alex. Casting will be interesting, think they would want two "names" for Sally and emcee.

Will Young was really wonderful when it was last in the West End. Was he? He certainly wasn't when I saw him in it at the Savoy... No also to a female Emcee, unless it's Judi Dench (who might have remembered some of the words from when she was last in it). |

Wayne Sleep was absolutely hideous in it. Borderline embarrassing. Sam Barks wasn't much better, underpowered and lacking in anything approaching charisma. I'm coming to the conclusion that I haven't seen Samantha Barks in anything where I thought she was very good really but I'm sure it's just me.
It was the Sleep/Barks combo that made me vow never to see Cabaret on stage again. The film was definitive. There is nothing more to say, anything further is bound to be a let down and I don't want to put myself through that.

The tour with Wayne Sleep and Samantha Barks (then Siobhan Dillon the following year) was actually a co-production with Bill Kenwright and the Birmingham REP so there could be a chance it goes there again instead. |

I can't believe its 23 years since In 1993, Sam Mendes directed a new production of the show for the Donmar Warehouse in London's West End. It starred Jane Horrocks as Sally, Adam Godley as Cliff, Alan Cumming as the Emcee and Sara Kestelman as Fräulein Schneider I doubt a touring company wil do it for me but we must live in hope... |

The film was great but it was hardly definitive. It was so cut and altered that it can only be seen as a "version" of the show.

Is this the Kenwright version that was very first seen at the Lyric in 2006? Anna Maxwell Martin was Sally and was actually brilliant. They made a CD of it which wasn't too bad.
Then with every cast change came more and more 'celebrities.'
