I wonder if they'll include the sub plot of Epstein's secret penchant for "rough trade".

My previous Kenwright mickey-taking aside, so was the Exorcist and Blood Brothers.

Do you get young women walking around in huge hair curlers in the rest of the country or is that something peculiar to the North West?

Liverpool really is the second best city outside of London. The architecture is stunning (not to mention the Liverpool Empire theatre and the Royal Court are both something to be seen, even the Playhouse and Everyman are both a delight). The Albert Dock, the two Cathedrals are better than any in the UK - I could go on..... But yes the Scouse Brow a dark sluggy line for eyebrows is liked in Liverpool, Essexand Newcastle by girls and yes they do wear curlers in their hair outside as a social statement that they "are going out"....
Finally, Bill has produced some excellent work over the years so I look forward to Cilla!

Liverpool really is the second best city outside of London. But it's full of scousers!

She's a wonderful choice - I can't wait to see it in Wimbledon.
As for the comment about "but it's full of Scousers" I see that as no difference than saying "but it's full of black people" - it's offensive and not funny.

Liesl Von Trapp called. She'd like her dress back. Thanks.

When do you think we will hear who else is in the cast? Another worryingly late one like the ill-fated Bring It On. Surely we should know by now?

I had a quick dig around on Twitter, nothing about who is in it on the lead star's tweets. The MD tweeted that rehearsals started on 14th August with a band call. Doing a more general search I found out names Gemma Broderick-Bower, Tom Dunlea, Jay Osborne and Christopher Weeks. Jay may be more in the band as he says he is lead guitarist in show and has just finished in Dreamboats and Petticoats so is presumably an actor/musician.
Bit off topic but I was wondering if they might do a Cilla follow up with Sheridan on ITV. Focus on the 1970's when she had her family, TV series, some sad personal issues but then had a big comeback with Surprise Surprise and Blind Date in 1984 and 85. Sheridan is 36 now so the perfect age to play Cilla from late 20's to early 40's. Maybe they even feature the famous panto story in it for a bit of fun.

They can also include some scenes of Cilla on planes drinking champers and having a lorra lorra laughs with all the flight attendants. They all loved her.

Press night in Liverpool is unusually a Friday (8th). And, also unusually for a new musical, there is only one preview on Thursday 7th. There is a VIP reception after for invited guests only. I managed to get one odd seat near the front for about £45.

Not sure that reaction was ever in much doubt in Liverpool but seems like the first preview was very well received by a sell-out audience. There was a speech from Bill Kenwright apparently too.

Kara does look a lot like a young Cilla so it looks like a good piece of casting.
