Ah yes, of course, I forgot that!
I do wonder what Karen feels about all this, Marisha coming in and becoming the lead alternate?
She probably doesn't like it, but that's life! Queen.

Hasn't she been back and gine off again? I thought anthony40 saw Amber the other night? I did. Wednesday night she was on. I don't think she was on for the matinee bust she was definitely on for the Wednesday evening performance that I saw.

Do you think she comes in and looks at the cast list every day and says "Aaaaaaannnnnd I am teeeeeelling you, I'm NOT going. On."?

Yes she was on on Thursday. This definitely is the best signing I've ever seen in the West End (of this genre I guess).

Thank goodness for Marisha...having a strong cover is so important.
Where's Ruth when ya need her? How many times has Karen been in since Marisha started? Only about five id imagine??

Idon't think you're far off with Karen, she has only done her sheduled alternate performances since Marisha has joined the show, whilst Marisha has done, it must be betweem 20 and 30 performances now, if you include both times Amber was ill and her alternate performances.

I watched tonight's performance and loved it! Even though I wanted to catch Amber as Effie, I still thought Marisha was great. Naturally Amber would be on holiday the one weekend I'm in London, but that's theatre life I guess. Can't catch them all if you don't live in the same country!
I wish I was here a bit longer just to see Amber for comparison in different styles/approaches to the role. The rest of the cast was great, although Joe Aaron Reid's timbre as Curtis bothered me for some reason. Perhaps it felt too "theatre" and not enough "American" to me if that makes sense. His acting was great, maybe it was just his style that didn't mesh with me singing-wise.
I loved the big numbers, particularly Listen and Dreamgirls (Reprise).

I do wonder how well this will do once Amber leaves. I am guessing they will bring another star, either for the Effie or the Deena role. Or if not, because of the reviews she has got, they will bump Marisha up to lead and carry on that way and bring the star for Deena.

I really doubt this will need a star going forward. It seems to be doing just fine with or without Amber. Not to mention that Amber although relatively famous, is no big deal in the adult world in the 30+ demographic, which is really the main patrons of this show. Kinky Boots seems to be doing fine. This is a mile better than Kinky Boots, and is more well known as a show because of the movie than the show across the street.

I agree, I could see this doing a respectable three/four year run easily, the reviews have been so outstanding! And as you say, Kinky hasn't got any stars and this Summer will head into its third year. And both have a repeat business from fans so it works all round.

Looks lile it is indeed true, Ibinabo is off the cast list. Next time someone goes and gets a programme, no doubt both her and Ruth will be removed now www.dreamgirlswestend.com/cast-creative/
