It does seem harsh on Karen but also i imagine she would have known this when signing on for another year and so must be somewhat okay with it. Not only that, but let's not forget this is her WE/Theatre debut and it's in one of the biggest shows in the West End playing one of the most iconic female musical theatre roles?. Whether she plays one night or 8 shows, this is an incredible opportunity for her and indeed anyone. Let's face it, she was hardly known before this despite her x-factor appearance. She's lucky regardless of how many shows she gets to do. I totally get that, I was more looking into the fact that it was really pushed as a shared role. In reality it’s the same situation as before just Marisha has been promoted and replaced by Moya.

The Wednesday shows are as well really shocking as Karen mav should at least be scheduled on one of the Wednesday shows with Moya and marisha to give her a chance. Shocking. Karen should just move on.

We don't know the internal politics of the situation but Moya will be doing 2 a week (one of the two Wed shows and Friday). But it does look like Marisha is doing 5/week which does seem to be a lot.

I’m sure this has been asked before but how much of a bigger sing is this than Elphaba?! I’ve not seen the show but this alternate/Standby/how many shows do they get thing is quite interesting!

Much bigger in my opinion. There is much less dialogue as well so it's a lot of singing all the way through. Effie is not a quiet character.

I'd agree, it's a bigger sing, and a lot of it is at the top of the register, almost screaming, so its very tough on the voice. Alternate has always made sense, but poor Karen.

I imagine Karen agreed to what she got prior to signing up. I think also the fact Moya and Marisha having relocated from America to do this may also be a thing of "oh we wanna make it worth it for them" and Karen gets pushed aside for them. I'm conflicted on it, as both Moya and Karen deserve at least two shows a week, but at the same time, Marisha has worked her ass off all year and has really earned what she has gotten. I'm conflicted on it.

The steppsistas costumes were my favourite costumes in the show... keyword being “were.”

Joe Aaron Reid has hurt his ankle so won't be going on tonight, guessing that means Rohan Richards on as Curtis for the new cast's opening night. Ryan and Rohan have swapped, Ryan is now first cover, Ryan was on tonight

Elphaba is way easier, i sing myself and I've sang all the Elphaba songs and the Effie songs and the Effie songs are much harder, Elphaba is easy especially when sang to the score

I’m sure Elphaba is an easier sing than Effie, but to say it’s easy 😳

What does "especially when sang to the score" mean? I.E. as opposed to making up entirely your own melody and just hoping for the best?

Simple, singing it as written without the embellishments added by Idina and others over the years.

How can you think this statement has any credibility whatsoever

And if I may add, I've watched some videos of you singing on twitter and instagram, and you're not singing along to the actual score. You are singing along to interpretations and live recordings of Amber or Emma Hatton which aren't sang to the original score (especally Emma, who adds in riffs when she likes).

What does "especially when sang to the score" mean? I.E. as opposed to making up entirely your own melody and just hoping for the best? As in it's obvs more difficult when loads of riffs are added, espeically higher key riffs like the Fiyero Riff

What were the muck ups? There is like, no talking in Dreamgirls bar maybe 20 lines, and the rest of it is just manic dancing around and alot of costumes and wigs! Liisi did quite a few funny movements and gestures etc, Adam brought out a bottle of champagne in Ain't No Party, Marisha pretended to be drunk in "Move" and the stepsisters won the talent contest

I've only just seen the promo clip of Karen doing And I Am Telling You... I will say, she looks and sounds great! Its possibly the best I have heard her sing it, so well done her. Its very clear that it isn't live with a live audience, which I suppose is a negative, as you want to give the illusion that it is live. She seems very much acting for the camera in this, rather than a live audience, which again is understandable as that is what was asked of her for this. I'm somewhat surprised they have thrown in the cheering mid-song though, as that has been a bit of a criticism for some and I wouldn't of thought that is what they want to promote as now audience members will think it is acceptable to do through every song. But bar those few things, well done Karen, I'm impressed with the vocals at least!

I find the new “shared” leads to be actually quite annoying. They promised that all of them will be sharing the role, it’s not really sharing when marisha has like 6 shows and the rest of the 2 go to Karen or Moya. It’s pretty much marisha the lead and incase she misses a show dreamgirls avoids all the complaints of not having the lead! Such a shame.
