Seen Amber one of 2 times seen the show so 50% isn't too bad I guess. She was phenomenal the night I saw her.

New to this thread so apologies if this question has been asked in the past 194 pages, LOL! I am heading down to London next month and this is on my list of things to see, now do I pay £50 for the chance to see Amber (on a Sat night) or £20 to see her understudy on the Monday night? I'm on a budget so the the £20 tickets would allow me to see other shows, but i'm not sure whether I'd kick myself by passing up the chance to see Amber. Any thoughts?

Both alternates are amazing I have heard, having seen one of them myself twice I can vouch for that! However, Amber is definately leaving in November so if you wanna see her, go see her. If the rumours I am hearing through the grapevine are true, one of the alternates will be staying anyway, so seeing them in all their amazing-ness will be there for at least another year!

Well Saturday night is the worst night of the week to get discounts in the WE. Your only chance of seeing the show cheap on a Saturday is to enter the Today Tix lottery for front row £20 tickets. Plus you have no guarantee of seeing Amber anyway. The show is fabulous and all the alternates for Effie are excellent - Marisha especially so I would go for the £20 Monday night tickets which gives you money to see another show......
BUT if you really wanted to see Amber, what I also would do is rock up to the theatre around 7.00pm on the Saturday evening and check the board to see if Amber was on and then see if you could charm the box office for a seat at a discount at the last minute. However, you would need a contingency plan if this failed and you might have to run across the road to Kinky Boots or up the road to 42nd St!!!

I say see Amber, and there might be 23 pound seats on TodayTix a few days before as there are on TodayTix for this Saturday evening

Daniel Johnson is Marisha's biggest fan and champion! I've yet to buy her a microwave or sports car though, something to aim for in the next year or so. 😅

Just given in to temptation and booked for Amber's last show - I'll be peeking through safety rails up in Upper Circle F but I've seen the show before and at least I'll be there - the only other 'last show' I've been to was Rachel Tucker's last in Wicked and it was a pretty incredible atmosphere so hopefully it will be similar at Dreamgirls!

I cant say much else about the show itself from the fact I've said its amazing, nothing has changed. Its still amazing! Especially Liisi who has come far and really come into her own. First time seeing Amber her voice is amazing, there is no denying. I was the first to stand for And I Am Telling You and most of the Stalls followed suit, her voice is amazing! Her acting isn't the strongest I've seen, but in a show that is sung through the vocals are key. I haven't felt like I am watching Effie White yet, I am still very much watching Amber Riley sing Dreamgirls, which is passable in a show like this. I've been a fan of hers since Glee so I new vocally she's amazing.

Fantastic show, audience were electric with three standing ovations. Amber wad amazing, vocally better in Act 2. For me personally, Marisha gas something that Amber lacks, and I cant put my finger on what, but that doesn't take away from a great performance!

Many thanks for all your advice guys, am only in London Saturday to Tuesday so Sat night in unfortunately my only chance if I want to see Amber. I will mull it over some more and see if there is anything else I still want to see with the money I'd save by going on the Monday. I think the only musicals I haven't seen are American in Paris and Follies (but that's sold out).

I'm in row K in the stalls on the far left. I pretty much always sit on the far isle from row H-K. The distance is perfect, the eye sight is perfect, and I have one less person sitting next to my left or right

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't we only know for sure of one pwrson who is leaving, that being Amber? So theres no point being sad if the others may be staying! And even then, knowing what is gonna happen afterward, I'm half and half happy and sad Amber will leave. 😂😂
