So if Amber was off for some time, now she's back on, I wonder what will happen with her holidays that are scheduled from this Friday. I can't see that she wouldn't go ahead and take her holiday as planned. Her attendance record is through the floor anyway so I think the damage has been done on that one. If memory serves, this is her 2 weeks off, too, which doesn't look great..., you never know though, Karen *might* get a show whilst she's off 😱 Just for 'one night only', mind Sometimes I wonder if Marisha and Sonia have Karen locked in a dressing room whilst she quietly weeps 'and you, and you, and you, you're gonna love me...'

That sounds about right! And once in a blue moon Karen escapes, does like 2-3 shows in a row and then disappears again for 2+ weeks. I think you nailed it there!

Ooh, checked this just a few hours ago and it was the same but good to see that they've also changed the wording about alternates too since Karen and Marisha are no longer referred to as such and that has been bothering me. As many have said, this is what she should have been scheduled for from the beginning, but I have a feeling 6 is purely a target and may not be met that often...

I'm so glad they've put it down to 6, I think it was crazy to expect her to sing the score 7 times a week, especially when she hasn't seemingly had a lot of musical theatre training. Obviously I don't have a clue about professional singing but the score seems hard as hell to sing.

Hmm, the people on website duty need to get their act together... the homepage still says 7 out of 8, with the about section being the only place 6 is mentioned!

I think they should take it down even further and just hand out equal shows to all the Effie's, that will ensure Karen has more time to perfect her role (because bless her she hasn't had much of a chance!) and I feel it will allow for a smoother exit for Amber coming to the end of her run.

That's true but from Amber doing any less than 5 shows she's not really the lead anymore and although of course they're not entitled to see her, people have booked for her and I don't want to imagine the faces of the poor young Glee fans if she's not on. Especially if she's able to manage six shows it's silly her doing less (I know she hasn't been doing great but maybe one less show a week could make all the differene. It is a big maybe though)

The last sentence of the website notice "This is subject to change and may be affected by contacts, holiday, illness, or events beyond the producers control" reads like the producers throwing the towel in regarding getting a schedule together. It sounds like they are herding a bunch of wild cats that they have no control over!

I see what you mean, but I think they're genuinely just covering the backs so no matter what complaints the public come at them with they can go "look pal it's on the website"!

I saw this for the first time on Tuesday night. Great fun if you don't take the plot too seriously, I really enjoyed the songs and the atmosphere in the auditorium. I went in hoping for Marisha as I'd heard amazing things about her (am I the only person that's ever wanted to miss Amber?) but Ms Riley was on.
I think Amber has an amazing voice, and definitely has the score nailed to a tee. She got very enthusiastic entrance applause / screaming from at least a quarter of the theatre when she first came on, with another quarter joining in when they realised what was going on, and you could really tell everyone was behind her. She has a fantastic voice, especially in the big numbers, and the audience responded very well to her, there was a standing ovation from most of the theatre after the act 1 closing number - And I'm Telling You I think it's called? - and at the beginning of curtain call, with cheers interspersed throughout the songs almost every time she growled. I found this a bit confusing as the really belted notes that went right through you were more impressive, but maybe that kind of grungy note is what she's better known for?
The acting was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. As my mum said, "she does spoilt brat having a tantrum very well", but I can't say either the role of Effie, or Amber's portrayal of it, were anything that especially deserved an Olivier win.
A great night at the theatre all in all though, Liisi was fantastic, and I enjoyed seeing Asmeret again for the first time since Book of Mormon. I'd give it 3 and a half stars.

So that would be Karen Monday and Tuesday nights Marisha Wednesday both petformances and Thursday Amber Friday and Saturday both Performances
But hang on, is D-Girls really THAT hard a sing that it needs three people to share the lead? It's pop music, not the bleedin' opera!

I'm a bit bored that we're discussing the same subject since who knows when..but..I almost want to look towards Sonia Friedman and say, told ya so. The truth is, Amber is clearly burned out. They should have started with her doing six shows only from the get go, and even from previews. She's a fantastic performer who gives it all, and there's no shame in admitting that she couldn't do all eight shows. Now it's just such nonsense. I've yet to see someone who posts here saying they've seen her.

I've seen her twice, and she was even better the second time ---- more confident vocally and a much better actress. That said, I gather 4 pm is the witching hour each day when the producers are informed as to which of their many Effies will deign to perform that evening LOL

Just to clarify, I meant to say if anyone has seen her recently. I saw her twice when the show first opened last November, and yes, she's superb.
But anyway...

Didn't someone see her this week? I saw her two weeks ago on a Thursday, immediately before Marisha did her 12-show run in Amber's absence and I'm sure I'm the last two pages someone else (maybe two people) definitely saw her this week.

I saw her on Tuesday. It's nice to see Amber fully embracing method acting. Effie would sporadically and randomly miss rehearsals as she pleased, so Amber is doing this with performances. Ingenious.

Ingenious. it wasn't as she pleased, Effie was pregnant Exactly, and that gets me thinking with Amber (not that she's pregnant obviously 😂). What I mean is maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions, she could have a legitimate health reason for missing the show. My mum had pneumonia when she was in her 20s and said it takes 6 months at least to fully get better. Amber could still be going through bad spells and need physical/vocal rest. And this show does seem hard to do 8 times a week with all that belting and growling and dancing, especially for a big girl. Effie is on stage for most of the show, don't forget. Of course you're all entitled to your opinions and I understand why you may speculate with the amount of shows she's missed but it could be a matter out of Ms Riley's hands.
