'Over the Title' isn't a thing over here anyway is it? The discussion keeps coming round and round again, so maybe it should be.
Anyway, it's Pride Weekend (in London) so I'll take Over the Rainbow over Over the Title any day!

I would say thats slightly harsh whilst I am no expert on her attendance record you make it sound like she rings the theatre about half an hour before curtain and just says 'sorry I dont fancy doing it today' i know but its frustrating and almost a con for them to advertise her outside her actual holidays and she never turns up because of 'illness' God forbid someone might actually be ill... And remember that it's all based on whether she is capable of singing the score to the standard required for the performance, so given the demands of the role it's a much lower bar for what would cause one to call out sick than, for example, someone who sits behind a desk all day...

Hmmm.... Amber tweeted yesterday evening that jet lag has got the best of her.... now call me skeptical but surely jet lag doesn't take almost a week to set in? Perhaps Amber wasn't ill at all but still away? Seems suspicious if you ask me!

She'd have to be really stupid to stay on holiday longer than advertised, and there's no reason why the Savoy wouldn't say she was on holiday if she was. Jetlag can hit different people at different times and certainly can take a few days to kick in. I really don't understand why some people seemingly have to think the worst of others based on no evidence whatsoever, rather than giving them the benefit of the doubt and not assuming they're lying. Would you think the same about someone you actually know?!

Its just idle speculation which is what much of this board exists on.

There's good idle speculation and bad though (the latter being where someone is essentially spreading baseless rumours about a performer's character), and some of it says a lot more about the people who posted it than anything else in my opinion. Some of it is so baseless and unnecessary, and it's arguably verging on libellous.

I think it's an unnecessary and completely baseless attack on Amber Riley and I stand by that. If you feel differently then fair enough, but my standards are different and I won't be changing them.

Amber knows that audience members want to see her. She doesn't sit home in her flat thinking of reasons or excuses not to perform. I think she realizes this is a dream role as she's said it many times. Again, she's doing too many scheduled shows in my opinion...
But I can fully believe she's not plotting ways to get out of performing. I know it's disappointing, but the only way to guarantee she'll be in when one goes it to wait until half hour when the understudy list goes up.

I have no objection to having a good debate, but I'd prefer that as opposed to two-word posts that come across as sarcastic and dismissive, even if that was not the intention.

Oh gosh I appear to have started something! Not my intention I promise and I just want to resiterate hhat i respect Amber massively and doubt she would pull anything like this herself. My enquiry (which I realise now was not clear at all!) was actually whether it was possible that the show published a shortened holiday knowing that she'd be away for longer to try and avoid a dip in sales/backlash for holidays/looking like she's having more time off as, as we all know, Amber has struggled with being off a lot in the last 8 months. I am pretty sure this has happened with a show before but which one escapes me? Forgive me if I came across as harsh on Ms Riley, who I know of course is not deliberately trying to come up with reasons to miss the show! 😂

No need to apologise. We have no idea what her motives are, or even that she has any. She might be pulling one, she might not. It's just speculation.
Would the other show be Funny Girl and Sheridan's extended absence? Miss Friedman kept the paying public well in the dark about all that didn't she.

For people who get dissapointed not seeing the star, this is a great example of why it's best to send the undestudy on if the lead's not sure that he/she is vocally up to it:
I mean poor Idina 😂 (Post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, no shade intended! Just showing why sometimes if Amber's maybe not sure if she's up to singing the score it's best to send Marisha/Karen on to avoid somehing like that ^)

Sonia's recent productions seem to have a bit of a curse with this. Let us also not forget that Amber was out from straight after Christmas, but it took at least 2 weeks until any announcement about her pneumonia surfaced!

It's very dismissive of the paying customers. Very poor.

Saw this on Thursday and was really underwhelmed. Karen tried far too hard with her vocals (Listen aside, which was fantastic) and consequently spoilt most of her numbers and I didn't feel any real connection to Effie as a character. Sounded like she was singing AIATY with the most hideous of sore throats and pushing when she really didn't need to. As a whole I thought there was too much grunting and shouting going on which made a lot of parts difficult to understand anyway. I came away thinking Liisi as Deena was the real star of the show, her voice was so powerful yet clean and precise compared to the others; amazing light and shade which heightened her own 'wow' moments, plus her character came across as the most likeable and genuine of the Dreams. I saw this Friday night with Karen as well and pretty much agree. She was very tits and teeth during all the group numbers and then VERY hammy with her acting. She has a beautiful voice, she just needs to tone herself down a little and not try so hard. Liisi was wonderful and really came into her own in act two, listen was incredible! Asmeret to me was the standout dream though, her acting and voice were spot on for me. All in all though I really enjoyed it. Two guys outside offered me and my friend free tickets as they'd seen it the night before with Karen and didn't want to see it with amber out again. I already had tickets but that's some good commitment to seeing the star!

Earlier today it had Marisha and Amber listed as Effie, and Karen still as Alternate so at least that's fixed. Perhaps Ruth Brown has finally got this?

Today's matinee was Amber, and it was superb.
I'm not sure who Deena was played by! But it was just ok.
I don't feel the other Deenas bring the same sumptuousness or polish (of course) to the role
One time I saw Lily Frazer play Deena and oh gosh... The singing was awful. She is beautiful though

When Amber leaves, perhaps Marisha and Karen will share the role and each will cover for the other?
