I didn't queue at all for Yerma. I put the ticket I wanted in the basket when the priority booking was still on at a time when the expiry would be after 10am. Come 10am, I removed the Friends membership they tack on and proceeded to checkout. Took a good few tries due to the site slowing down, but it worked a charm.

Have to say would have been nice if people who realised booking was open from 9 mentioned it here at the time rather than popping up at 10 and saying "yeah, I booked an hour ago"!

Managed to get 2 tickets to musical that I wanted and looked at Yerma but all the £10 tickets gone....tried to text you but phone signal down here! It's a conspiracy! Did you want to be my +1 on 9th Dec for musical thingy? Matinee (although ticket confirmation unhelpfully says neither date or time!!!!) |

Phew!
Got 1 and for the day of the week I set aside as my "theatre night" too. Very happy and relieved!
Most dates still have tickets left, btw, but very few tickets outside the £38 price bracket are available.

Was in the queue for best parts of three hours but finally booked £20 seats to see The Life Of Galileo (£10 was unreserved flooring, which I'm assuming meant standing, or level D seating and I'd rather go without than pay for those), so went for £20 level A instead.
I then decided to see if there was any availability for Nina, only to be flung to the back of the queue again, so not being eager to spend all day in an online queue, decided to call it a day.

I wasn't really given an allotted time to checkout; I'm guessing the amount of time you had to checkout was your basket expiry time (which was 10:22, and I completed the booking at like 10:17 so just in the nick of time), which was about 30 minutes or so. As I said, it failed several times before it actually worked; kept getting an error page saying the site was taking too long to respond and had to start again. I even tried another browser but ended up stuck in a 2000 deep queue just to log in! |

Got what I wanted in the end! Didn't go for Yerma as I'd seen it before - would have seen again for £20 but none of those left. In a queue for 2 hours but at least it was better than the old days when the website would immediately crash, the phonelines would be jammed and only people who could get there in person could get tickets.

Hours to get in but then very fast to buy tickets (Galileo only). Probably better than the Almeida system which is the opposite. Not sure if any theatre has really got this organised properly.

By the way - there were no 10 £ Seats for over 25 year olds in front row as used to be for past productions (for Yerma at least) when I looked during prority booking, they were 20 £.
The queue is painful . And it was almost impossible to get tickets into the basket. Friend and I will go on separate days, because I am very limited on which days I can go. Will see what's left of the other shows later.

Wow, that only took NEARLY ALL DAY. If the Almeida's like this tomorrow (spoiler: it almost certainly will be) then I might just quit theatre-going all together. Or just cultivate a taste for unpopular plays in large theatres or something.

Most difficult booking of the year for Yerma! Hamilton was a doddle! Angels in America - easy-peasy!
I was 2236 in the queue at 10.00am. By 2.15 I was 117. Then it froze!!
Eventually managed to get through by phone at 3.10 and booked 2 seats!

There were, I have three of them, including one for Yerma! I booked at 10am, having left my computer to queue about half an hour earlier. Some theatres are getting this right. Harry Potter and the National (recently) seem to have it pretty well worked out. Hamiltons main downsides were the second 4-5 minute queue to find out if you'd secured the ticket you picked (which is alleviated by taking the best available) and for no indication of how long the queue is before you get to the main site. The NT booking process I think is really good. |
