Jodie Prenger had the nerve to do a fitness DVD a couple of years ago and was on G Norton's radio show expounding on how she'd found "the secret" and "would never be fat again". Now she's in a musical about.... being fat?
Anyway it sounds hideous and I can absolutely imagine who the audience will be.

I like Jodie but this sounds cringe worthy.

I mean, the original TV series was - as I recall - pretty popular, and Nicholas Lloyd Webber not only exists but has written a musical before (The Little Prince, didn't set the world alight but seems to have been reviewed more favourably than certain of his father's works). I sort of wish they weren't doing this though, 'cos its mere existence seems to have unleashed a whole array of faintly nauseating fat jokes.

I didn't mean to start this bad pun thing, i'm really sorry.
I watched some of the original show and found it entertaining enough, but it certainly didn't 'sing' to me.

Had only heard of this when I saw Jodie in Shirley Valentine. Seems like it will be a tough sell, I can see it being a middle-aged woman crowd (similar to The Girls in London). I'd go just to see Jodie personally, as I have yet to see her in a musical and she is a great performer.

Hardly original..a similar musical called Gigantic was tried out in 2015 in the States:
Getting shipped off to weight-loss camp is hardly Robert’s idea of the perfect summer, but even he isn’t prepared for what can be lost or gained at Camp Overton, the No. 3 weight-loss camp in Southern Pennsylvania. With biting humor and irreverence, GIGANTIC tackles the growing pains of adolescence through the experiences of a bunch of misfit teens forced to find solace in one another as they look — inside and out — for acceptance, a hot make-out session, and the last contraband Butterfinger. A coming-of-age musical comedy fed by an infectious pop/rock score, GIGANTIC is created by Randy Blair, Tim Drucker, and Matthew roi Berger and is directed by Scott Schwartz (BAT BOY, TICK TICK BOOM).

^I guess, but the musical is based on the TV series (written & directed by the same person) which was on TV from 2000-2005 so it wasn't original anyway haha. It regularly received 5-10 million viewers, so there may be some appetite for it (pardon the pun), though of course there was much less to watch on TV 17 years ago, hence the high viewing numbers!

Maybe they can get James Corden back from his gig as Americas 5th or 6th most popular late night chat show to star once more in his definitive role.

From Chloe Hart's post on a facebook page looking for digs, it seems as if she's in this, too.
