UK Tours Wanted

After seeing the wanted revivals thread it got me to thinking about shows that have been in the west end that have not yet toured or have not toured for a number of years.

My wish list would be:

A Chorus Line
Me & My Girl
Les Misérables
Sunset Boulevard
Martin Guerre
Beauty & The Beast
Aladdin
In The Heights
Dreamgirls
Gypsy
The Woman In White

Agree on Sunset Boulevard. I don't know if I'd what a scaled-down tour style version, or just the ENO version. Realistically, they could take that version on tour with the same set just slightly smaller and few less orchestra members without it costing an absolute fortune, unless I'm not thinking of something? If we do get a UK tour of Sunset, or even a London version, I would love to see Joanna Riding star.

Gypsy (the CFT version but I'd like to see another actress give Rose a go. I'd like to see Anita Louise Combe play Rose)
In the Heights (since I missed it in London but would it really be worth the commercial risk?)

In The Heights might work on tour while the Hamilton hype is at its peak. I'm not sure I'd want to go and see it on a 'normal' stage, but I'm sure I'd cave.

I'd love to see Betty Blue Eyes and Lend Me A Tenor on tour (as close to their London productions as possible).

I would definitely go and see Bend It Like Beckham again. Maybe at the Beck Theatre (nearly UB2).

I don't know if it will be a tour but Betty Blue Eyes is definitely  in the works for a revival. Cameron Mackintosh said so in a recent interview with Graham Norton.

I feel like Betty would be a good show for Chichester that could then go out on tour, and maybe even for a short limited West End run

Les Mis and Beauty and the Beast are happening, Bend It was happening but got pulled. Sunset Boulevard I believe has dates pencilled in, but I'm not sure how far down the line of is it/is it not happening it is.

A Chorus Line was supposed to tour a couple of years back but didn't happen, and Martin Guerre has been spoken about but again I'm not sure where things are up to with that.

A Chorus Line tour needs to happen. It's not like it has a very complicated set or anything, just a couple of mirrors and a flashy background for the finale. There is enough talent in the UK to cast it! I loved it at the Palladium a few years ago

yes please to Titanic - I can imagine it at the Royal Exchange. But definitely yes to betty blue Eyes, but with a better Betty. I gather that pig came from Australia - there are plenty of puppet folk in the UK who could find a more mobile way to bring her to life. And I know Cameron likes to soften things (Follies?) but did it really make sense in the context of the plot, and with the Macbeth subtext, to have Betty survive? It may not have been so uplifting and the gimmick of Kylie would have gone, but it would have been truer to the material.

I saw it years ago on B'way with traditional staging - it definitely still works.

Not a bad call, Titanic could work really well at the Royal Exchange. Coincidentally i have been telling anyone who will isen for the last few years that Betty Blue Eyes would be a great choice for their Christmas musical one year. fits their audience profile well and could be staged really well in the round.
