Apparently Annie with Craig Revel Horwood 😔 Oh wow where have you heard this ?? I saw the tour and it was great but it would need to improve the set for it to be west end standard, and the fact the set and the production has since moved to South Africa |

I hope this doesn't come to fruition...not that there was anything wrong with it, but there have been such better shows looking at the Piccadilly.
Still, if it's a short term filler, better than a dark theatre I suppose.

I agree, it was very good for a tour but the set was very bare and they would need to upgrade it substantially for it to fill a west end stage. Although Craig Revel Horwood would certainly get the punters in, I never saw him in the role as Hannigan but he did get good reviews. |

Michael Ball rumoured as Daddy Warbucks for FFS!!! Does the West End really need a revival of this dated show? STRICTLY BALLROOM/BIG/SLEEPLESS COME ON PRODUCERS...WHERE'S THE NEW STUFF???

In fairness, ATG were banking on Finding Neverland for a summer opening. If that's been pulled from the Producers end, and Annie has come in at the right time, I can see why they'd go for it. It could do well for a limited run with the right cast.

Really disappointing news....is there really an appetite for this?..think it will die a death..,who wants to see this when Matilda is still on? There are plenty of great shows knocking on the door of the Piccadilly Theatre and Annie ain't one of 'em!

I'm not active anywhere else other than this forum so where is everyone hearing about this opening in London and Michael Ball ?! If they managed to get him in, with Craig Revel Horwood, guaranteed success I think. But only a temporary run, it isn't needed for an open ended show when we have similar shows running at the moment. |

Agh...so lame and uninspired. What the West End needs is more Sonia Friedmans, and maybe the chutzpah that Cameron Mackintosh had in the 80s.

Cannot see Michael doing this, as it will only be about 2 months before he hits the road with Alfie again. Would only be in it for about a month or so max of an 8 month run. Unless he takes a month or so out. |

Disappointed to hear this news, hot on the heels of the Curve announcing Scrooge.
I saw Annie with Craig Revel Horwood in Manchester. While it's by no means dreadful, it's pretty mediocre and unremarkable. Certainly not a production to live in the memory.
Such an uninspiring choice for the Piccadilly when you think what might have gone in there.

I'm probably the only one who is happy with this news - if it is even true.
Annie was my first ever musical so I would love to see this in the West End. I don't like this particular production's set and costumes but I would still go see it.

Not sure i want more Sonia Friedman musicals. Granted ive not seen Dreamgirls yet, but Legally Blonde and Funny Girl weren't exactly the most lavish productions, successful though they were. We definately need a new Cameron Mackintosh

Lavish doesn't equate good, as far as I'm concerned. Legally Blonde was just fine, though grossly overrated. Funny Girl suffered from an adequate leading lady.
Book of Mormon is another hit and it's fabulously produced.

no it doesnt but when you're paying now £70 to £80 a ticket its nice to at least see some of it on stage. funny girl and legally blonde looked no better than a Kenwright tour, and he gets slated here constantly. On the whole Cameron brings a quality to his productions both in terms of physical production values and cast that no one else can really be relied upon to do
Mormon is a bit different as it was a direct broadway transfer
