I should also mention, as I know people ask, the stage is high. From the front row, the smallest cast member (which ironically is Sheridan) when she is at the back of the stage, can only be seen from the waste up. And I am close to 6ft tall so if I could only see from the waist up I don't know what others thought. But I found it totally worth it to be that close to the show and her in the performance, it makes it feel incredibly intimate. Thanks for mentioning. I think that's where me and my mum will sit there doesn't appear to be many seats on offer in July. At least with Day seating you stand a chance.

Show cancelled tonight after nearly a 40 minute wait. No idea why or what the resolution will be!

Show cancelled tonight after nearly a 40 minute wait. No idea why or what the resolution will be! Oh no, your kidding?! I wonder what happened that caused that, I am hoping it was more a technical problem that can be fixed fast than a cast illness.

It must be a technical issues or major cast absences. If Sheridan was just absent then I think Natasha is still In the cast and many wouldn't go for a exchange.

The amount of tweets from people who were there saying they don't know why was cancelled is bad. Seems front of house didn't really explain situation to audience.

Seems to have stopped 30 minutes in and then been cancelled 40 minutes later for "technical reasons". Twitter full of wild speculation as usual.

I am somewhat relieved that it is nothing to do with Sheridan... she got enough grief from people last time she missed shows that she completely didn't deserve so I am glad it has nothing to do with her so people don't feel the need to attack again.

Or that's just what they're saying to stop her getting grief. #gossip #nobasis #stirring ;-)

Gosh, after Glenn Close's missed performances in Sunset last week...the West End is full of drama at the moment off stage as well as on!

Do me a favour.

The entire performance cancelled for 'technical reasons'? Do me a favour. They nearly had to cancel Act II of Kinky Boots the day after the Oliviers because the Safety Curtain wouldn't rise after it literally fell and broke the system it works on... these things do happen. Luckily, in that instance, they managed to fix it after a 40 minute interval and the show continued.

Just returned home from a really disappointing evening The curtain went down just after the scene where Fanny first meets Nick. No explanation other than for 'technical reasons'. I don't mean to sound nasty at all, but the show was really uncomfortable viewing from the start. Sheridan was slurring words and forgetting lines - I couldn't work out if it was part of the character or not? Also her singing didn't seem to be of the standard I had read about in the reviews. Something wasn't right and many in the audience felt this. Anyway...we were kept waiting for 40 mins and the front of house manager came back into the stalls and told us the show was cancelled and how we would be contacted to get an exchange or refund etc. At this point one lady at the back of the stalls started repeatedly shouting 'put on the understudy, put on the understudy!!!'....so clearly it wasn't just my friend and I that thought something wasn't right. Hope it all gets sorted soon and I can see the show at some point! Felt really sorry for the couple next to me who were over from Miami and had seen the original version on broadway with Babs! They asked me if the lead performers were on tonight as they were so shocked at the quality!!!!

It would seem unusual to have an unfixable technical issue having already run the first 20 mins of the show without a problem. Technical reason is vague enough that you won't ask any questions. It's a bit like that Friends episode where Joey and Pheobe try to find an excuse for him not being at the Days of Our Lives thanksgiving parade... 'I had a family emergency'

Mmmm... maybe they were aware something was wrong before the curtain went up and everyone was feeling a bit uneasy before the show and that is why Sheridan was a bit off? Imagine, she carries the whole show and just before she goes on she is told something may or may not be wrong technically, maybe it threw her off?
... But then again, they wouldn't even start the show if there was an expected danger?

When I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the platform with the Oompa Loompas got stuck and they stopped the show for around 40 minutes, but were able to fix it and finish it as usual. What could be so complex in Funny Girl that they have to stop the show completely?

Presumberly if it was just Sheridian being erratic they could announce she cant continue due to ill health and get the understudy to finish off

There didn't seem to be anything amiss in the first 20 mins technically. At one point I heard a ringing feedback noise from a mic but that was only temporary.
I just can't work out if she was just playing a super zany / drunk character or if something was up. So frustrating not to be told!!!!

If it is something to do with Sheridan, it must be pretty immediate, as in happened over night. I saw her on Tuesday evening and she was stunning! Quite literally up there with Imelda. Which makes me doubt it is her but that is only because I saw her on form a few nights ago.
My guess would be the conveyor belts maybe? They do carry on the vast majority of the set. Or maybe something wrong with the curtains not going up or something? It is not a very technically heavy show in all honesty... there are a lot of curtains and the conveyor belts are used a lot too...

I saw it at the Menier and the sets are completely secondary. They could perform this on an empty stage.
