^ Thats where the awful is.. They give you everything you need to pick out a decent seat: southendtheatres.org.uk/Online/cliffs-virtual-tourI wouldn't normally bother to defend a theatre but they have done a great job of turning it around and booking decent stuff over the last few years. It was pretty grim for a long while and really suffered from being too close to London for its own good. I'll shut up now, having drifted way off topic!

Fab! Was getting excited about seeing Natasha but still happy to see Sheridan again! Anyone know if Sheridan is back for WMC this week? Seeing it Saturday. Would love to see Natasha as seen Sheridan twice but I know my friends who haven't seen it before will want to see Sheridan! I decided to message the WMC facebook page to find out and according to them she's back.

Has anyone heard why the producers cancelled the Llandudno leg of the show? There was no specific reason given in the email received from the theatre.

Show was stopped halfway through the overture this afternoon to attend to a medical situation in the auditorium.

Hope everyone was ok....
But this sort of situation is exactly what worries me about places like WMC shunting their paid trained staff for volunteers (who in this instance have possibly never worked a shift before as the scheme is so new)

Hope everyone was ok.... But this sort of situation is exactly what worries me about places like WMC shunting their paid trained staff for volunteers (who in this instance have possibly never worked a shift before as the scheme is so new) They didn't specifically say anything at first. A man appeared on stage, halted the orchestra and said that there was an "issue" and the show needed to stop while it was sorted out. We all thought that it was a technical difficulty and it had something to do with the show. I turned around and saw a first aider walking into the auditorium and helping lift someone out of the auditorium. It wasn't until the man appeared again (this time with a microphone) that he said there'd been a medical problem in the audience and the show could start again. About a 5-10 minute delay to the start of the show in total. As far as I know, the person is fine.

Glad all seemed ok!
And they DO still have First Aid trained staff in the wider FOH team, but the new 'rule' is all the ushers in the auditorium are volunteers, any staff you see outside are paid. So at the moment particuarly as the new 'regime' has only been in place for a few weeks, those inside the theatre are less experienced.
Volunteers are perfectly competent I just have issues with taking of paid work...and worry about actual incidents when volunteers may not have the experience to deal.
Anyway how was the show? Aparently Darius was treating himself to a Wagamama (not a euphamism) in the Bay last night...

I'd give Darius a Wagamama anywhere he fancied one.

Oh you're so lowest common denominator some days Bear! I think we've all seen more than enough of Mr Dane...Campbell, and some of us still haven't forgiven him for 'Colourblind'.
Might hop over the bridge to see this again if both 'stars' are doing it. Enjoyed it in Bristol but there was an obvious weaker link.

danb it's sold out! Which I'm frankly astounded at and I'm pretty sure the WMC can't quite remember their last sell out either! (there are a few spare matinee tickets I believe)

I know. I'm vile aren't I? I blame @ryan.
I've been looking at prices for the Manchester return with both of the leads but it's stupid expensive.

Talking of tickets - I noticed earlier that a few front row tickets for the final night of the tour in Manchester have popped up on sale.

I wandered through the WMC at lunchtime and saw a classic matinee crowd. There were also a few decidedly creepy blokes by the stage door...

Well I'm not sure if I'll post my full thoughts but I'll say this, the quote at the top of every flyer is right, Sheridan Smith is the greatest star! Fabulous performance.
