Someone at stage door last night asked Natasha how long she'd be on for and she very politely said she has no clue. She said certainly the coming week and probably the week after, for anyone interested.
I went back yesterday for the second time this week, she's an incredibly moving performer. I've seen every show Sheridan Smith has done on stage- incredible, talented performances. I hope to see her if she returns.

Right, just gonna put something out there regarding my posts on this thread. I know a lot of you posters probably find me annoying on this forum and don't like what I post a lot, so just wanted to say sorry if I've been going on about Sheridan recently. I know I've probably been annoying it's just she's my idol and I love her so much in all her TV work and I think she is amazing so I'm just staying optimistic and praying she'll be back. I think I'm trying to put off the fact she might not be back as I hate that idea. Anyway, just saying that I'm sorry if I have been annoying on this particular thread..  I think we all understand that you're concerned that she wont be there when you go and that's why you're asking. I completely appreciate that concern as I have certainly booked tickets to see a specific performer before, as I'm sure most people here have. However, unless we get any more specific clues (such as the Sam Spiro tweet), there's really no point in speculating. Some believe she'll come back, some believe she wont. Even with those that believe she will, it's probably not a good idea to get your hopes up as there's really no way to be sure. If I were you, I'd expect her not to be there and then if she is you can only be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed. |

I think many of us can appreciate and understand that you are an incredibly enthusiastic member of this community. Many of us might even recognize a bit of our younger selves in your zest and love of theatre, and your desire to talk about certain shows, theatres, performers...
It's great that you have this enthusiasm, it really is, and I feel genuinely encouraged that you want to share this joy with us. (You are so, so lucky, george, you really are, being able to share it online; when I was young, I didn't know anyone who loved theatre as much as me. So I kept it to myself, and had to wait to go to university and drama school, where I was surprised to meet people who loved it even more than I did. I know that sounds patronising, but it's really not meant that way.)
The fact that you love one performer more than any other is something many of us can identify with. Of that you can be sure. Some of us might have attended show after show, just because a certain performer was in it. I know I have. I've even waited at the stage door for an autograph (sometimes lucky, sometimes not!) My favourite performer ever (I mean EVER, george) has only performed in shows a handful of times in many, many years. So I KNOW just how you feel wanting to see your idol...
But... And this is the important bit... Sometimes, it's best to keep these incredibly strong feelings to yourself once you've told everyone once or twice. Nobody likes to hear the same thing over and over again. The message, and the importance of it, becomes weaker each time you voice it. We know how you feel, we really do.
So please, please, george, keep posting. Keep showing us how much you love everything to do with theatre, from the announcement of a show, to the tickets, the posters, the buildings themselves, the actors, singers, dancers, the directors, the scenery and props, the change of casts, the understudies and swings, the dramas on and off the stage, and- in time- your memories of a certain show or performance... Everything. But in moderation. And we'll all hear you.
We really will. And we'll love you much more for it.

Yes it was Gay Soper as the orange eating girlfriend. The third girlfriend was played by Diana Quick but it was Elaine that made the biggest impression.

I've no idea? Just repeating what I was told and asking if there were any inkling of truth in it? Surely they'd just keep the understudy on if they weren't casting a 'name'? Why spend the money? Some guy on twitter, see earlier in the thread. As there's been no confirmation he may or may not turn out to have been lying. Ah, don't really 'do' twitter....thanks. |

LOL cute..Except I did roll out of bed and went there and did look scruffy, and was yapping on my phone in multiple languages for a good 30 minutes before the BO opened, but I wasn't noisy or look homeless, per se.

Advice for "Day Seat" folk. A reader of theatremonkey just sent me this message, "Day Seat: Woke up early, was a very solitary first at 7:30am. Apparently the Savoy Hotel is rather posh and they frown upon German tourists having a healthy breakfast in front of the box office, so they (very politely) sent me away. Came back at 9, two guys in front of me." The hotel own the street, and can - and apparently do - send away anyone making a mess, being noisy etc. SO, if going to get in line early, don't eat / drink / look scruffy / be noisy etc, seems to be sound advice... Maybe the Savoy Hotel doesn't approve of breakfast from Pret, Eat etc I'm sure had they been eating quail eggs or caviar they wouldn't have been sent away.... |

I've dayseated many times at the savoy and nope the hotel do not like people sitting around making their posh hotel look scruffy. I always find it best to sit on the step, by where the stair case goes down to the stage door, as long as you sit there and mind your own they are normally ok. If not you can always just stand at the top by the suit shop/tailors and just catch any other potential dayseaters before they jump the queue

I normally use The Savoy's restroom before seeing a show at the Adelphi. It's much faster to use theirs and cross the street than queue amongst 100s of gay men seeing Kinky Boots or The Bodyguard.
