Hopefully, it works best without an interval (when there is one it appears to happen randomly because it wasn't written that way).

I'd rather an interval, thank you. Sometimes it's just too tiring to sit through something without a commercial break.

I'd prefer an interval. I like to have a half time Gin with my musicals.

Parsley will not be able to leave at the interval if there isn't one!

Parsley will not be able to leave at the interval if there isn't one! Probably better off not even going. He will find something wrong with it regardless

What do people think we can expect from this production? Are we thinking big, fabulous, no expense spared? Or are pared back, focus on the material and performances?

Until Loveland it doesn't need spectacle, the original production was very skeletal with occasional flashes of opulence from the 'ghosts'. The transition to Loveland does need to be impressive though.

I was thinking more about the cast and creatives involved, what can we expect rather individual opinion of what it should be.

Since you posed the question (and I can already feel the barrage of abuse.....) Can anyone honestly see Imelda as a former showgirl? She will undoubtedly "act" the hell out of it but she cannot sing. Janie Dee will be her usual supercilious self and as for Bennett, she will give a predictably vulgar performance and "the" song will be painful to hear. I suspect the men will fare a little better with Forbes being twitchy and Quast being careworn. The rest of the casting is so underwhelming but perhaps Dawn Hope will save the day. Sadly I am already disappointed.

No one would spend hard earned cash on a cast that you already believe are going to be rubbish. Would they?

I was thinking more about the cast and creatives involved, what can we expect rather individual opinion of what it should be. The one indicator we have is the NTs asking for extra funds, suggesting they might want something splashier. Such visible donations might only be there to help them show that they aren't overcommitting public money though.

I'm sure this will be truly spectacular when it needs to be, with a huge staircases spiralling out of the drum and a million rhinestones - it has to be. I saw a recent amateur production that made no acknowledgement of the painful irony of Loveland; there was no change at all. Terrible.

How about some product placement for cash like they have on the TV?
Suggestions?

I think people are bashing Imelda already simply because she seems to be everywhere lately. She went from Sweeney to Good People to Gypsy to Virginia Woolf and now to Follies. She's the 'it' girl of the moment. She's a first rate actress, and I can't wait to see her Sally.

Do we think we'll get a CD cast recording of this production? Have most of the NT musicals received cast albums…?
