This tour has sold better than the last so it seems inevitable.

They’ll probably do Plymouth, Bradford, MK, Birmingham (it sold so well there so I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned so soon), Norwich?, Glasgow and Aberdeen. I’m really hoping for Glasgow because I’m kind of in a dead spot for venues (45 mins from Edinburgh and 2 hours from Sunderland).

Bristol too at some point maybe, it pretty much sold out there and that was with an extra week or two taped on to the beginning of the run.

If it's possible for the set to fit into Newcastle Theatre Royal I'd like to see them play there instead of Sunderland. Even though a return to Sunderland probably isn't like because I think it's the worst sold venue on this tour

Much less of a hassle for me to get to than Sunderland and is generally a nicer town centre to explore, and a grander theatre.

They'll probably do some variety of Manchester too whether it's Manchester or Salford, plus at least one out of Cardiff and Bristol. Depending on how long the tour lasts I imagine they'll probably revisit most of the tour venues from this year because for this "half-length" tour they deliberately picked all of the largest venues so they wouldn't want to be making considerably less money from the new tour. Can't see them going to Norwich though, the Theatre Royal doesn't really lend itself to a Wicked sized show. That being said, it would only be half an hour from where I grew up so it would definitely be worth going to stay with my mum for a bit during that venue

I personally can’t see them doing Manchester a fourth time any time soon. Norwich is based on Miss Saigon, a similar scale production, going there for its second leg.

It’s still such a huge machine it will definitely tour again, especially when you think the movie is still scheduled for end of 2019!

Why don't they just extend this one?

The big tours normally choose Sunderland over Newcastle for those two reasons.

I disagree and much prefer Sunderland to Newcastle as a venue in every way. It's a beautiful theatre and much more opulant, I love the gold/red scheme (even Gary Barlow said it was the nicest theatre he went to on his recent tour 😉). As shady23 has said, it has more seats and a much bigger stage. I saw the first Wicked tour there and thought it fit really well.

I totally agree with justfran and think big shows are ideally suited for Sunderland Empire. It’s my favourite venue in the North East

They are both beautiful, but I personally prefer NCL because it’s more convenient for me to access.

I imagine if a third tour were to happen as early as 2020 it would return to venues that the original tour went to, but the current tour has not? These being Plymouth, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Salford. I'm not really seeing how they could justify touring Wicked again so soon without it returning to some of the larger scale venues.
I would love to see it happen, but I can't imagine it being very profitable with such little choice of venues that would yield a lot of profit. I can't see the tour leaving the UK either after all the issues with the international tour!

They would definitely re-do Birmingham. They sold pretty much every ticket for the run there. I’d imagine Bristol and Edinburgh too. Edinburgh is one of the largest theatres in Europe and they managed to sell nearly every ticket, with only single seats and standing room at most performances.

I'm not sure that's true- think Edinburgh did well but didn't sell out on the second tour. Also, Daniel- you sound very in the know, intrigued by your confidence in the news? I can't imagine they're planning another tour in the UK for a while if ever, but guess it's up to the producers to decide (probably off the back of this tour's success) so all to play for..... although I agree not in 2020

Assuming the movie is released in Dec 2019 as currently planned it would seem logical for 2020 to be the next tour to capitalise on the (assumed) success of it?
Appreciate people saying it’s doubtful but does seem a missed marketing opportunity.... on topic for the movie but off for the tour debate (sorry mods) I can see whoever the movie cast are, moving onto Broadway after its release “you’ve seen them on the big screen, now see them live” again it’s great marketing!

Is the movie even still a thing? We've heard NOTHING. And they're saying itll be out in less than 18 months. I reckon it's been shelved if I'm honest, which doesnt actually bother me.

Fair challenge... last update was a few months ago from Stephen Schwartz saying he was writing new material to go with it! I’m not bothered about it as I don’t want them to ruin it, but I know that could change depending on casting* *Lea Michelle or I’m not going. Ms Michelle can then come to the UK to tour it - I can see her waltzing around Bradford on her Monday day off!

Someone told me the movie was either cancelled or pushed back.

Bit of chaos today, the Dublin Bord Gais had a power outage and as a result the matinee didn't start until just before 4pm (it's scheduled to start at 2.30pm). The evening show has now been pushed back to an 8.15pm start time (from 7.30pm) so they have time to reset between shows and so they aren't violating a million Equity regulations.

Also, I'm surprised the movie has been pushed back as they've been banging on about it since at least 2015. The casting alone seems to have been going on for most of that time, although I guess we don't really know what happens behind the scenes. I wouldn't mind if it was quietly dropped as it's only going to be awful, although it would give the West End production a bit of a boost.

Wicked has made boatloads of money for Universal so they can afford to be patient and not rush, after all they waited almost a decade for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again so I expect Wicked will be pushed another year or two.

the Dublin Bord Gais had a power outage Defying Electricity? They've clearly not been keeping up with their maintenance, you know what they say, no good fuse goes untested...

Really odd seeing Amy’s Instagram story at 10:20 where Act 2 has only just started!
