She looks fantastic
I wish we could hear more about how she acts and sings it rather than just the obligatory "smashed it" tweets.

A friend who was at Nikki's debut said that she is more of a belter than a riffer (she apparently had a much more powerful belt than Amy). She also did a Fiyero riff in No Good Deed, which is a nice surprise from a debut show!

[*makes note to comment on acting choices next weekend] and the jazz hands, please. There’s some things we need to know.

Has anyone seen the show and can give a detailed report?

I've not heard anyone who has gone mention Aaron Sidwell at all yet! 😕

Nice little video with some live action of the new cast!
6 sleeps for me, really excited (not sure if I’ve mentioned it!)

No idea what that all means but I presume it's all reference to jazz hands and Fiyero riffs.

Audios of Amy have been shared on YouTube... just wanted to make the comment that she sounds to be a very youthful Elphaba, something I wouldn't have expected. Not the best of performances IMO, but just as Alice Fearn did, she will grow and become a fan favourite. (Aaron is also very youthful (and a bit *nasally I'd add) in ALAYM).. Feel free to share opinions, agreement, disagreement, etc. Very much looking forward to hearing a review from someone who attends in-person.
*Not well versed in singing technique, but this is the best I could describe it as

As I’m going this week I’m not going to listen (as much as it’s killing me not to!). There are some very mixed comments on the YouTube video ranging from “she’s amazing” to “she’s so weak she’s going to be replaced!”
I’ll make my mind up live, I firmly held my hands up saying that I wasn’t a fan of Alice Fearn from the audios and was blown away when I saw her live!

Just listened - sounds like a great place for an Elphaha to start from. She sounds like she has great technique, her breath control and vowels are all in a comfortable place for her. Look forward to hearing how she progresses in the next few months and hopefully seeing her at some point on tour.

I was concerned when i listened to the stuff from the launch. I think Amy is great and i loved her in Kinky Boots but i just don't feel like she has the right voice for this role. Maybe as she settles in and becomes more confident and familiar with everything it will improve but i just feel like everything sounds safe and polite ad placed. She doesn't to me have the grit and power and belt that a great sounding Elphaba should have. Maybe i'll feel differently seeing her live in a few months. Aaron is Aaron. I knew he wouldn't be the best sounding Fireyo ever.

The orchestra don't sound great at the start of the defying gravity audio. Amy sounds more like she should be Glinda. One of the weakest vocals I have heard.

I couldn’t resist.... I flicked to the flying section of DG and I really like how clear her voice is, it’s very NDJ in style, there are riffs to the score but you’re not being shouted at - that’s the difference between a Jackie/NDJ/Willemijn in my eyes compared to say a Hatton/Ellis/Dearman who just shout the score at you!

I personally think she sounds really good, and with more experience she will only get better! She sounds different, but that's a really good thing in my opinion!
I do hope that Nikki gets plenty of shows, for herself and also to help Amy see the end of the tour! With past history I really think an alternate is needed, especially as Amy is brand new! Bet it won't happen once the tour hits the UK though! 🙄

To start “placed” is a great way to set up a healthy foundation for this role.

I love how people can write performers off as not being good enough before they've even watched them.

I'm seeing the tour as soon as it hits Bristol so I'm holding off on listening to the audio. As much as I'd love to hear her style I prefer to go into the show without having heard her sing the score. All the performers I've personally seen play Elphaba have sounded far better live than they have on any recording, so I'm holding off so my first thoughts on her will be what I've personally experienced? I'd love for Nikki to have scheduled shows throughout the whole tour, I doubt it'll happen but still

I love how people can write performers off as not being good enough before they've even watched them. I haven't written anyone off. I just don't think she sounds great here. Basing my opinion on her vocal alone, Amy doesn't sound great, but a full live performance can change opinions.

I didn't mean you in particular, more those commenting on the audios that she is weak, not good enough to finish the tour etc.
Experienced casting directors have nothing on these self proclaimed experts.

I think she sounds good. Sure, it's not perfect, but once she really settles into the role, she'll be great. She's also really good in As Long As You're Mine. She kind of reminds me of Rachel Tucker in that song.

I liked it. Pre-conception that she probably wouldn't be right have been proved wrong. Reminds me NDJ, very well placed and clear. Look forward to seeing the tour (and her) at some point!
