I told ye a while back this was happening. I didn't know it was a new UK tour but I knew it was coming back to Dublin,I assumed it may have been part of the international tour. |

I'm not surprised there's another tour in 2018. The last one was a huge success and if you forget Bradford and treat it as previews for the International tour, then Wicked will have had a good break since the last full UK tour.
It's fairly regular for shows to tour again and 2018 feels about right to return!
I reckon it'll be an extension of the current oversees tour so whilst the cast might change the logistics/set etc will all be the same.

So long as this isn't a Kenwright "re-imagining" of Wicked with Sarah Harding as Elphaba, wobbling on a ladder while singing Defying Gravity, alongside Jason Donovan as Fiyero and Marti Pellow as The Wizard, then this is great news!

Having recently seen it in London for the first time...What are the noticale differences to the tour etc... - Dillamond and the Wizard are shared by one actor (in the second act when both are on stage, Dillamond is played by an ensemble member)
- Smaller orchestra
- Production is somewhat sized down. However, if you haven't seen the West End production yet (or that often), you wouldn't even notice
- no trap door, so Elphaba runs on stage in No Good Deed and Chistery holds the Grimmerie
- in the Finale, a fake trap door is right next to a well. Elphaba hides in the well and when the fake trap door is opened, it looks as if she's climbing on stage from the ground.
- no walkway above the stage
- no staircases at both sides of the stage. Platforms are moved in and out when they are needed (e.g. for Morrible's hate speech)
- only two flat heads in Wizomania
- During Glinda and Fiyero's engagement celebration in the 2nd act, the other guards accompany them instead of Glinda's friends in beautiful gowns.

Interesting. I know the international tour cast are contracted for 18 months, so currently not doing this, but some crew are contracted for two years. So maybe new cast, but I'd expect same set and production as the International tour.

I know myself and many others are always harping on about how Wicked over-recycles their cast members and how it becomes quite annoying, but I would really love for Hayley Gallivan to get lead Elphaba on this tour. I have been told she is both a strong vocalists and actress, as well as that she only played the role for less than a year I believe?
Also, Jemma Alexander had previously expressed how she would like to return as lead Elphaba "in the future" after she left the original UK Tour, so perhaps she may also be interested? Time will tell. I would be happy with either, or.... a new Elphaba altogether *dun dun dun*

I've given up hope of them ever casting a completely new lead Elphaba now!! (Though that would of course be my preference)
Jemma Alexander I really enjoyed in the role, Hayley Gallivan not so much...

Where do you think the tour will go apart from Bristol and Dublin?
I reckon Birmingham, Manchester, Southampton, Cardiff, Edinburgh for certain. Struggling where else this will go maybe back to Bradford? Liverpool is a favourite for tours, but is so close to Manchester? Sunderland would cover the North East? but this gets missed on tour routes? Could Belfast get this? Maybe even Glasgow? This time they might miss Aberdeen off?

I think Liverpool could be viable, as it was visited during the last tour (albeit just over a year after Manchester), then again they could also justify using Salford only that summer so any venue they have already visited is possible really. I am excited to see the show in Dublin again, I think it will be a very expensive month or two for me!

I'm not sure where else in Wales it could go other than Cardiff, we're not blessed with many large theatres in the principality!
I'm obviously happy for it to just come back to Cardiff I can walk to the show! 🤓

I'd like think Hull New is an outside possibility. It's currently in the middle of an extensive 18 months refurbishment to enable it to take larger tours, new bigger fly tower, enhanced space backstage etc all thanks to Hulls year as Capital of culture next year.
