martello736 I think you're right, it would make sense that the new UK tour is effectively "year two" for the International tour, but it would be logicial that like the original tour a number of the cast will stay on! Will be interesting if we get a cast change when it comes back to UK (or perhaps when it leaves Asia before going to Istanbul (if the Jackie to London suggestion has any truth...) Thinking of understudies though I don't think it's ever been tweeted that Fiyero or Morrible have had an understudy show? Bradley and Kim seem to be so consistent I wonder if some of the understudies may stay or transfer into London?

As far as I'm aware, Manchester will be the final venue. The entire ensemble of the first tour were offered the International tour. I wouldn't be surprised if they were all offered the uk tour again (easier for the producers) but I'd imagine some of them must be bored now. I'm also expectimg Wicked alumni to be cast in the lead roles. Let's see! I had assumed it to be the case as the press release indicated 10 tour stops rather than that these would be the initial stops with more to follow

I am so so happy that the show will be returning to Dublin! I have already planned to book opening night and the closing weekend, with several more shows scattered across the few weeks it is there (I plan to go to twenty shows in total) - yes I know this is crazy but I just love the show THAT much. I also hope to visit Liverpool, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Manchester!

I'm also expectimg Wicked alumni to be cast in the lead roles. Let's see! Laura Emmitt please! Laura said a few months back that if she were to stay in wicked it would be in the west end, unless she's changed her mind of course!

It wouldn't surprise me if they cast an existing Elphaba, but I don't think it'll be Laura. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when they've always promoted people it's always been understudy to standby, standby to lead. IF when Willemijn leaves in July, Alice became lead and they brought Laura back as Standby, then yes I could see her getting the tour gig, but I just don't see her (or anyone else) going straight from London 2nd u/s to Tour lead.

No, actually I wasn't clear enough. I was hoping for her to be standby on the tour. But standby in London would be even better. She really has to play that role more frequently. I think she went on for Elphaba about 15 times or even less, and aced all of them from what I've heard.

I'm sure she had a future with the show - I've never seen her perform but she seems to have had some of the strongest feedback of all the understudies, at least from what I read on here.

Did something in particular happen or just in general below the standard?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Jemma Alexander getting lead Elphaba on this tour from the way she spoke about the role before leaving!

I would. When I saw her in Birmingham, she was unable to cope with playing Elphaba. She might have been a good standby, but playing Elphaba fulltime for 6 (?) weeks was definitely too much for her.

I'm not basing that statement on personal feeling or opinion just so you know. She actually said that she would be interested in returning as lead Elphaba, but it wasn't right for her at the time (she had just been married).

I'd actually love to see Natalie Andreou return to the role. Such a pity that she had to leave the cast early. I'd love to see my first Elphie again.

She actually said that she would be interested in returning as lead Elphaba Which actress wouldn't say she'd like to play Elphaba if you asked her? (apart from sopranos, of course)

Well there is other compelling evidence in favor of my theory but if she doesn't actually return then I will look rather silly so I will leave it at that. Again, I'm not saying I want this to happen, just what I heard from people who knew Jemma quite well at SD and the likes.
Personally, I would love for Jodie to stay on as alternate to a brand new lead Elphaba with a new Glinda, Fiyero and Boq (I want Pinder to stay forever!) and Kim Ismay pretty please!
I would like to see Zoe George get full time Nessarose, she was stunning when I saw her and really does deserve it after devoting so much time to the role!

Jemma was a very good Standby, and was reliable when filling in for Nikki. In effect, she was "Lead" for 7 of the 9 weeks in Birmingham. Nikki didn't do a full week at any point and didn't make it past week 3, owing to her vocal health. If memory serves correctly, Jemma missed two shows in the course of those 7 or so weeks, when Natasha went on.
However by the end her voice was really struggling. Maybe she'd be okay if she was in the swing of playing the role 8 times a week for an even more extended period, but (you can hear it on YouTube) she was struggling by the end of Birmingham and needed the rest.

Hey guys!
I was wondering did anyone here see Wicked (or any show for that matter) in the Bristol Hippodrome? I am currently debating whether to go to Bristol or Liverpool to see the tour. I saw the show when it was in Liverpool and adored the theatre, but it was quite expensive! Is the Bristol Hippodrome a good theatre with good sound? Is Bristol itself as a city pleasant?
The only other factor swaying me is the cast at this point. Would I be better off waiting for the cast to be warmed into the role a while or go for their first venue? Thanks!
