Well they've cast Jimmy "crocodile shows" Nail already so they really need to get their priorities right. Who?

He's a bit of a local 'celeb'. Did it on Broadway but famous in North East for Spender and Auf Weierdesin Pet (no, I can't spell it...) and the pop song "Ain't no doubt".

I asked Rachel today if she was doing this and she said she had not been asked. My heart died a bit inside. not even been asked!! perhaps they haven’t started casting yet...if they don’t try and stunt cast it, I’d love to see her in the role. Sounds a bit wrong!!

Ahaha, I actually quite enjoy the cast album for this so I'm cautiously looking forward to seeing it. Told my mom that Jimmy Nail was going to be in it and now she wants to come with! So clearly that stunt casting is working on some people

Am I the only person who keeps seeing the title of this show and thinking it's about fans finally deciding to give up on pairing off characters?

Producer Karl Sydow said: "After protracted negotiations carried out in good faith we regret to announce the production's offer of employment to Jimmy Nail has been withdrawn. All at The Last Ship thank him for his generosity and enormous contribution during what has been an eight year journey."

Isn't it just!
I live in Newcastle and the tour starts here so had everything crossed. She said at her gig she hasn't doing it but I always hoped that it would somehow happen. Alas, not to be.

For fans of the Fleeshman guns, it looks like he keeps them hidden away for this. More is the pity. But he does have a lovely denim jacket with a fluffy collar so that's nice. There's also a McGann in it. I don't know which one, they all look the same. Sting's still got style-r

The McGann is Joe who can sing , presumably he is replacing Jimmy Nail. Looking at a random night of the tour in Birmingham hardly any tickets sold.

Sold very well in Newcastle, as you would expect, but it's a very small venue.
I'm going to opening night and am really looking forward to it.

Oh yes, and re: Mr. Fleeshman: I am unmoved by his guns, but I'd quite like it if he managed to show us a second facial expression.
(He didn't in 'Ghost'.)

I will be seeing this in Northampton, even without Rachel Tucker which I'm still not over

I was at opening night tonight. Here's a photo of the stage
I really liked it!
Yes I am from Newcastle so it matters. Not sure it will matter so much to the rest of the country but if Billy Elliott can succeed then I can't see why this can't.
The set is absolutely sublime and some of the visuals simply stunning to watch.
Richard Fleeshman is outstanding and very Sting-like in his portrayal. Cast, especially the ensemble, very strong. Band sound brilliant.
Yes some of the accents are a bit dodgy but who outside Newcastle will really notice?
Some lovely songs and emotional moments, perhaps overly long though. Huge applause and standing ovations at the end and Sting walked onstage so my friend was happy! ☺
Really hope this does well, it deserves to.

The set looks great. I think the story will resonate in every town and city that has lost the thing it was first famous for.
After such a positive review, I'm now very much looking forward to Nottingham.

Sales at Birmingham seem just slightly above 'Bring It On' levels, for the first random date I picked.
