Was meant to see Venus in Fur this afternoon, but just won the lottery for this, front row so couldn't turn it down! And managed to sell the Venus in Fur ticket too so no complaints here! Could it have been you who sat next to me and gently warned us there would be an actor standing in front of us in one scene? Oh ya, that was me haha! Nice to meet you! Even though the usher warned me before the show, it still made me jump when this man came next to me. 😂

Doesn't look like Ross is extending with the show, he tweeted this two days after the extension was announced.

Fun little mishap last night towards the end of Act 1 when the sound system packed in. The curtain came down and Fraser and Noble came out front to ad lib and entertain the crowds for 10 mins or so. Was very funny. Although it sounds as though something like this has happened before...

Lots of fun tonight at YF. All the leads are good but wow, Hadley Fraser is absolutely perfect in that role as well as being adorable.
Went for Stalls N1 which is restricted view but has nothing in front so loads of legroom, however what Mr Monkey didn’t tell me was that in addition to cutting off the right of the Stage there’s a dirty great pillar a few rows in front which takes out another chunk unless you lean, AND that the outer curve of the circle overhang cuts off a fair bit of the top of the stage. Not sure I’d mark that as a green on your map Monkey!
I’m pretty sure someone walked by wearing a large TB badge. Sleeveless dress in a black and white print? Anyone?

If the Garrick has been built in 1890 instead of 1889, the whole pillar problem could have been avoided.
It was terrible bad luck to build a theatre in the year BEFORE cantilevered galleries started to be introduced.

There’s an awful lot of noise from passing tube trains down in the stalls too.

I am totally obsessed with this show. I saw it three times in Newcastle and managed to get a 25 seat. I was late getting to the box after just after 12 so ended up in row O but still better than full price!

Tube noise surely has to be the worst at the Dominion! Literally constantly.

Deals were discussed earlier. This afternoon I arrived at the matinee half an hour before curtain up. Box office offered a couple of price levels in the stalls at about 55% of full price. There were free seats but it was fairly busy.

Ross has just announced a comedy tour next year so won't be extending.

Saw this last night and enjoyed it! I did wonder if parts of it are a bit questionable/dated these days politically or maybe I just need to lighten up? Mainly Elizabeth's don't touch me policy that when pushed into a cave and taken forcibly by the monster turns into deep love. Also Frau Blucher's ode to domestic violence 'he was my boyfriend' . What do you guys think?

Its a comedy of its time brought to the stage, it didn't bother me at all. Its a classic, and it is funny to watch. If Dianne's character didn't have the material she had, it would be a dud of a character and a real annoyance, not the highlight she is.

What do you guys think? Yea, Brooks' humour hasn't aged well and feels incredibly dated to me - both the sexist stuff and the "funny" accents. With all the buzz here on the forum I've been mildly tempted to check it out, but I just don't feel any desire to sit through this show again or to give Brooks my business. You might argue that it's a "comedy of its time" but that doesn't make it better for me. Countless older comedies don't feel dated because they never resorted to this kind of humour.

Original Monster set to leave THIS Saturday! I’m sure there was an interview with Brooks around opening when he said that he’d paid for Hadley Fraser to come over and for his London apartment during his stint. Sounds like he wasn’t happy and has decided to drop out the production. Surely he wouldn’t have been contracted for just 6wks?!

Original Monster set to leave THIS Saturday! Before Shuler Hensley was announced as coming over from Broadway I thought that either Nic Greenshields or Jeff Nicholson were the most likely casting for the Monster & it seems the casting director thought the same!

Hi everyone, I'm going to be in London next week to see theatre and have a few day seat spots left. I'm a HUGE Mel Brooks fan, huge. I also saw the show on Broadway and didn't love it. I know it's been revived, but frankly (see what I did there?) changing two songs wasn't my big issue with it. I was curious if anyone saw it on Broadway and West End and could tell me if it's worth my revisiting? As a Brooks superfan, I feel compelled, but don't want to waste a slot. Thanks!

I suppose it depends on the reasons on why you did not love it in the first place?

The West End version is tiny in comparison to Broadway. I saw both. Its super fun but looks like a tiny regional touring production in comparison. If I was you I would check out all the shows you don’t have (Dreamgirls, Jamie, 42nd Street) first before seeing this.

I saw this at the weekend and was disappointed - maybe it's just not my type of humour. I found the first act pretty unfunny and boring, and although it got better in the second act it seemed to rely on a few repeat jokes that might have been funny at first but quickly wore thin. Good cast but half the time I couldn't make out what they were singing, and it really is a show that's long past its time in terms of attitudes towards women etc.
Certainly not worth the extortionate ticket prices it's charging!
