Mark Umbers plays Georg - not totally sold on this. I thought he was fine in Merrily but not great. Willing to be proven wrong, however!!

Mark Umbers and Katherine Kingsley might just be the most perfect casting since... Scarlett Strallen. Heavenly.

Well I was excited about seeing Scarlett for the first time, but now Mark and Katherine.... This has theatrical star quality written all over it. Now can I justify another ticket...?

Marc Umbers was great in as Nick in Funny Girl at Chichester opposite Samantha Spiro. I did wonder if he would do the FG tour, but clearly this is a better option with a West transfer likely.

He was tremendous in 'Sweet Charity' too (much better than the overrated 'Merrily . . ' for my money) and he was a glorious Freddy in 'My Fair Lady' too (with or without McCutcheon). Also, if you can't get Jane Krakowski then Katherine Kingsley is a great choice for Ilona.

Yes, had forgotten about his Freddy. Nice guy too as I pounced on him and chatted while he was having a cigarette outside the Minerva Theatre Chichester after Funny Girl.

Katherine Kingsley does remind me abit of Jane Krakowski to be honest. She was in the ITV drama 'The Secret' earlier this year and was great in that

Which CD would forum members recommend that I download. The London cast recording with Ruthie Henshall or the 2016 Broadway cast recording?

2016 Broadway. TBH I don think it's such a great score. Loved the recent Broadcast though. The songs work well on stage, but I don't think they're all that thrilling as a cast recording. Though I do enjoy Vanilla Ice Cream, Good Morning/Good Day or whatever the opening is called, and some of the Emilia songs. Oh, damn you. Now I'll have to go listen to them.

Concur with the posters above, 2016 Broadway revival is the way to go. Though some of Laura Benanti's vowels are far too modified so she can sing in her glorious soprano voice, Zacahry Levi has so much charisma, it literally pours through your headphones/speakers!

I agree the score is a bit patchy.

Everybodies time and money is finite. I could easily afford £100 a ticket if I only went to the theatre say 4 times a year but I go to the theatre sometimes 4 times a week. SO in order to do that I have to pay as little as possible! Are you my alter ego by any chance? Many a wise word spoke here.

That cast album became one of my favourites almost immediately! Gavin Creel is a personal fave!

The new cast album is fab and does include bits of dialogue I haven't heard before, but for me nothing will beat the Savoy recording. The characterisation and vocals are wonderful!

Just got tickets for this today as it is my birthday and got this as a present!
Can't wait, am so excited but I have NO idea what to expect!!
Is it a good show? I hope I'll enjoy it as I love the performers!
Also will be first time at Menier, am looking forward. Heard it's very intimate and am in row C so will probably be so lcose to the actors which will be nice!

Heard it's very intimate and am in row C so will probably be so lcose to the actors which will be nice! It's a really gorgeous, old school musical. It's so charming with a delightful score and even better, a pretty solid book to boot! I hope that your love of the performers in the show helps you enjoy the show, too, and the Menier is such a cool space, the intimacy really creates an atmosphere like no other (Assassins & Funny Girl are theatrical experiences I'll never forget!) and I'm quite excited for you to experience it for the first time! Can't wait to hear what you think! Oh, and Happy Birthday!!!
