Has anyone watched the Netflix series Stranger Things? If not and you like a bit of supernatural hokum then I can highly recommend it. It's like a cross between ET, Goonies, Super 8 and The X Files. Much of its charm comes from the younger cast members including one very talented kid with no front teeth called Gaten Matarazzo who has already appeared in several Broadway productions, including playing Gavroche in Les Mis.
This is him singing Bring Him Home. Like, adorable or what?

I didn't love it but I couldn't stop watching. He was really good in it though.

I liked the series, but because there were so many references and homages to other films from the 80's, most of which i knew, it never really felt like something new. You had, literally seen it all before.
El was the star of the show, though the other kids were great too.

I really enjoyed this back to the 80s romp and all the subtle and not so subtle references to The Goonies, ET, Close Encounters etc. What a joy to see something with kids not relying on iphones and tablets and x boxes. Good to see Winona Ryder again but the stars were the kids especially Gaten and Milly Bobby Brown. Well worth a look.

I binge watched this in two days. Loved it. Felt like a trip down memory lane with all the 80s references. I saw Gaten in Les Mis on Broadway. He was great.

Gate has done a great version of 'all for the best' from Godspell too and a kids version of Godspell. Look it up on YouTube.
