A one off concert with Alan Menken at the Palladium. Pre sale today and I'm amazed how well its sold. I tried to book just after 11am and could only get seats towards back of the stalls. There really isn't a lot left for general sale on any of the 3 levels. Who knew he would be so popular.

I went to book this, but it was way out of my budget It's not cheap is it. Hope there is a big orchestra and some guest stars for that money.

I love Alan Menken but have seen some clips and it doesn't appeal to me.

Way, WAY too expensive for me. Alan´s music is a huge part of my life and I´ve always dreamt of seeing him live, but I really couldn´t justify this.

Is there a matinee, or just an evening performance?

Is there a matinee, or just an evening performance? Just evening. Not sure if they will add a matinee seeing that the evening performance is a 6.30 start which is quite early.

It's not cheap is it. Hope there is a big orchestra and some guest stars for that money. Hoping for Vanessa Williams singing Colors of the Wind. I believe she is contracted in Prada until the summer.

Yikes!!! Standing is £50 ridiculous GOOD LORD that's absurd. It's hard to tell because centre stalls are completely gone now, but was £115 the 'ceiling'? I would expect a much wider range of prices rather than £50 being the minimum. Something like Macbeth has a 10x range between its cheapest and most expensive tickets, even notoriously pricey Cabaret has £30 seats up in the back on some nights...

If I remember rightly from yesterday's presale £115 was the top price and agree that the range of prices in between top and bottom is that big.

There is no orchestra. Alan´s done the show already, and it´s just him and his piano. I would´ve gladly paid the top ticket price for something a-la Hollywood in Vienna concert. But that would´ve gone to the RAH, not the Palladium.

Ceebee mentioned some clips of this so I went to the usual source and found the concert in full and, yes you are right, him and a piano. So I'm guessing that's what we are getting. Have to say I'm a bit disappointed after dipping in and out of the video and I don't know how I'm going to tell the friend who is going with me as I sold it to her thinking it would be big orchestra and guest performers. Makes the ticket prices really expensive.

He sings all of the songs… himself?!

Unfortunately, yes. That´s why I was wise and did not splurge. Had it been another way, they would´ve 100% advertised it as such.

Given what we know I'm surprised how quickly this has sold at the current prices. I just assumed it was a concert like the recent Sondheim one at Alexandra Palace and it was only the prices that deterred me from booking yesterday.

I, too, was contemplating booking a less expensive seat, but I'm pleased I didn't in the end. I would have hoped for an orchestra at least. And a guest or two as well. Let's be honest, as much as I admire his talent, his vocal skills leave a little to be desired. And a couple of hours of just him 'singing' and telling anecdotes I think would be an ask too much for me personally.
