If it is an all British cast (and to anyone involved in this production if you’re reading this, please make Eva happen! Please!), who would people want to see cast as Daisy and Gatsby? I wouldn’t mind Lucie Jones as Daisy ☺️ As much as I'd love Eva to come and do it, she's not British...? Yes 😊 Although I was asking who people would want for a British cast, I also wanted to make clear - just in case anyone involved in the production is reading - Eva is still the first choice (before they consider a British cast) 😂😭

Eva is signed up to do the Broadway Cruise in late March/early April, so definitely won't be doing it in London...

Hmmm, not sure what I think about this if it’s true. I didn’t mind the guy in Rocky, but I do think there are better Gatsbys out there.

He may be talented, but he certainly cannot star in a touring show at the same time...

God I'm hoping for better than that. I've just forked out £125 for a ticket.

I think they’re having castings atm. Who’s left available and able to play Gatsby?!

I think someone's replaced our mrbarnaby... I think he's been bodyswapped with another TheatreBoard member in some kind of covert government operation to spread misinformation

Whoever they cast as Daisy better have as good a voice as Eva Noblezada. So that’s basically no-one 😪

Caught this on a "spare" slot in NYC a few weeks ago. Got one of the infamous "rush" tickets which was front row. Stage sadly very high so wasn't the best view but at 40 dollars was an absolute bargain.
While it didn't wow me, it was a very solid musical and an entertaining couple of hours. The sound, lighting and design were great and it was very nice to see a fully automated set folding into scene after scene as that's so rare these days. And it looked like a bit of money had been spent on it.
Music serviceable and not unpleasant but despite listening to CD several times and now seeing the show, I still can't hum anything. In situ and sung by the wonderful Jeremy Jordan, Eva Noblezada and Samatha Paula (of OAT Evita fame) it was very enjoyable. But a few more bangers wouldn't have gone a miss.
Story was also fine but pretty unexciting I thought and slightly baffled as to why this is considered such a classic. It was a matinee and was mainly school trips so it's clearly an important title to Americans.
I think it may need something more to be a hit here.
Glad I went. Doubt I'd go again! And the Coliseum is sadly wrong for pretty much every musical. Only thing I have seen that really worked there was Bat Out Of Hell.
Solid 3.5 stars. More to hum and/or a more engaging story would have pushed it to 4.

^ Nice to hear from those who have seen the Broadway version. It must be amazing to hear Jeremy and Eva live. Jordan's singing on The Past is Catching Up To Me has everything you want for a musical number!
I have booked tickets to see it in London but feel as though I will really regret not seeing Eva sing this live. It just feels like a lot of money to fork out for a trip to NYC and I might end up getting an understudy. Does anyone know what nights the understudy is more likely?
My only other hope is that Eva does a few special performances in the London version (if not, full time!).

And the Coliseum is sadly wrong for pretty much every musical. Only thing I have seen that really worked there was Bat Out Of Hell. Solid 3.5 stars. More to hum and/or a more engaging story would have pushed it to 4. This summed up my feelings almost perfectly. It's been advertised as "Big Broadway Is Back!" and that's exactly what it delivers. Shiny lights, sets, exhilarating choreography, impressive vocals—it's exactly what people expect when they want to see a "Broadway show." And to your point about being baffled why it's a classic—that was one of the primary complaints critics, and myself, had. It does a poor job at adapting the source material with any depth or insight and instead skims the most surface level points off of it to create this. In all honesty, this show could be about any set of characters in 1920s New York and no one would be any wiser that it was based on the novel if, say, the character names were different and it was retitled.
