Well this makes the decision whether to see it next week on Broadway or not harder. I'm a big Eva fan, so would be doing it mostly to see her in another role. If I knew she was coming over here to do it, I'd probably see something else.
Anyone with any intel?

It’s such a waste of theatre, when we could easily have a glorious Grease or maybe an exciting Dirty Dancing revival why not have Elf back for good measure or yet another Joseph with the cheap and stripped back Bill Kenwright version. Why in heaven’s name would the West End want a big brand new musical Broadway transfer? Or 2:22 A Ghost Story!

Wow, that's quite a long run in a big theatre with a lot of seats to fill (more seats than in the Broadway Theatre.) When I saw this in New York a few months ago, I just thought it was a bit 'meh' with a lavish design and a totally unmemorable score. Bringing it over from NY (with its mixed to negative reviews, and lack of interest from the Tony voters) and somehow hoping it will fill the Coliseum for 5 months seems like a pretty ballsy move to me. (Unless they have some very big names lined up to star, I seriously think this will struggle.)

“Meh” pretty much sums it up.
Another Broadway paint by numbers exercise that is instantly forgettable.
Wishful thinking from the producers if they believe they are going to consistently fill the Coliseum unless they have some serious celebrity casting in mind.

Has anyone heard whether the other Gatsby musical (score by Florence Welch) will be coming to London?

Charlie S hasn't got much announced has he? I could see him as Nick perhaps, but not as Jay and even then his dancing skills would be rather wasted here.

There was a video of a dark haired (bearded) actor entering the Coliseum posted on their socials this morning which has since been deleted?
Did they tease the lead too early?

Has anyone heard whether the other Gatsby musical (score by Florence Welch) will be coming to London? No time soon. A key creative was fired so it’s in limbo now.

Definitely on my list but I think this is a strange venue for this show.

Definitely on my list but I think this is a strange venue for this show. Agreed… it’s enormous and April to Sept is a long old run. But if they cast big enough names for the leads maybe it’ll pan out.

I'll be curious to see this, although the clips I have seen on YouTube don't do much for me

Just got an email confirming priority sign up tickets go on sale this Thursday, 21st Nov.
I definitely want to see it but think I’d like to know lead casting first - any rumours out there yet? Got my fingers (well and truly) burnt by We Will Rock You at the Coliseum where I booked early doors to get the best seats, only to find out later it was Ben Elton and Lee Mead!

A work colleague is going to NY next week and was asking me what show he should see. His wife wanted to see Wicked. I suggested as Wicked is in London it would be better to see something that they couldn't see here. Anyway they have booked The Great Gatsby so hope they like it. And, at least, I will get a Playbill from them to add to my programme collection.

I just went to London Coliseum website and it allowed me to book. Hope it was the right place! 🤞🏻If they confirmed Eva was in it, I would book more tickets!
